Goalkeeper Wonder Save & Rearranged Goal Net!

An amazing video clip from a game involving my local non-league
team, Bearsted F.C. Miraculous save.
I assume play would have been restarted with an uncontested drop
ball to the defender who was in possession when play had to be
stopped.

Almost - it would be an uncontested dropped ball to the
goalkeeper (once extricated from his restraints!)
Had the goalkeeper not managed to make the save and the attacker
put it in the back of the net, should the goal have been allowed
to stand? [emoji848]

Yes, that question crossed my mind too, ARF. My opinion is
(bearing in mind I retired in 1998 and there have been many law
changes since then) I would award a goal (albeit reluctantly) as
I couldn't think of anything in the LOTG which would enable me
to disallow it.

That was my immediate gut reaction when I first saw the question
posed elsewhere. Then looked into it further...
Goal nets are optional by the LotG (curiously I can see no
mention of them in the FA Standardised Rules, or FA ground
grading rules). What the Laws do say is:

with the goalkeeper.

While the net being attached to a metal bar is commonplace, said
bar needs to be secured to the ground which isn't the case here,
so as soon as it interferes with the goalkeeper, I would say
that gives a reason to stop play. The only time I'd consider
allowing a goal would be if the goal were scored so immediately
after the goalkeeper became entangled that he would have had no
chance of possibly saving the shot.

Rule 20A of SCoR as below. It doesn't necessarily say they have
to be attached, but the fact it says they have to be provided
probably infers that.
The home Team must provide goal nets, corner flags and at least
two footballs fit for play and the referee shall make a report
to the Competition If not provided.

Yes, I was assuming the "goal" would be scored immediately by
the forward following up. Failing that, play would have to be
stopped, as it was.
