8 rounds in - your thoughts on VAR so far this season

After 8 rounds of matches I was wondering what your thoughts
were on VAR so far this season?
Personally I think it has been significantly better this season
- 'referees call' has been a great addition to help nudge the
tricky 50/50 calls back to the initial onfield decision of the
referee and I think that so far that has been working really
well in not overturning decisions unnecessarily.
From what I can remember personally I can think of only one
clear howler so far which was not overturning the Bruno
Fernandes red card which in my opinion was clearly was an error
(there may be others but I can't think of them off of the top of
my head)
Also it's been a lot quicker this season I feel (not sure if the
stats back this up but I'd be surprised if they didn't) and
offsides work so much better now we only see the lines at the
final stage.

I still think the same. It should be scrapped

I'd say the Anthony Gordon penalty in the Newcastle United vs
Manchester City game should've been overturned. I disagree
Fernandes should've been overturned, but suspect some bias might
be in play here [emoji13]
I think it's been a much better product this season.

The following is only my opinion but When VAR was brought in
it’s sole purpose was to help referees get decisions correct ,
from day one it should only have been used for clear and obvious
errors , Instead what we saw was it looked at microscopic
things , goals chalked off because of a toenail , lengthy
stoppages , subjective decisions being reviewed , all this and
more led to referees relying on VAR and not making decisions
themselves it sucked the joy out of the game and VAR has become
a talking point week in week out the way it was used has set
them back to much , when you look at how it’s used in Europe and
FIFA/UEFA tournaments compared to the premier league the
difference is enormous
I have to ask myself is it doing what what it was brought into
to do , I think this season there is a slight improvement not
much , is it being used to get the decisions right ? The stats
would probably back that up but if they do then why is it still
the big talking point every week
It really does have the potential to be the right tool , but
there is a long way to go in terms of the PL using it to make it
effective it’s already taken to long

Due to the obvious subjectivity of many decisions, my own
feeling is that VAR can reach a certain optimum level upon which
point there will be the rare apparent failing, and then a much
larger amount of subjective decisions that are open to debate.
And will ever be thus!!
