Liverpool v Chelsea - John Brooks

Overturning the decision for a second penalty just tells me that
a reckless challenge is all well and good if you “get some of
the ball”. Is it 1975 again?
Thanks to Sky moving this from last night I’m watching in a bar
in Berlin so have seen the replays. It’s a reckless challenge
and anywhere else on the pitch nobody would question the
       original decision by the referee.

Oh and more yellow for the match officials this afternoon!
bmb your influence on these kit colour choices is relenting!
       😜

I'm not convinced it's reckless, but I'd certainly deem it
careless, and I'm surprised it was overturned.

I think that’s the first error I’ve ever seen whilst watching Mr
       Cann running the line.
He is still the best assistant referee this country has produced
by a long chalk, and this says something about how rare it is to
see him make an error, albeit it was very tight.

When Howard leaves to take over from Rossetti or Collina, my
application to take over from him has already been submitted.
I'm sure the answer of ban y****w shirts in the box asking what
will I bring to role, will see me at the very top of the
shortlist. It's unique, honest and heartfelt. Just to be sure I
did add in a PS that I'd bring in Costas Kapitanis, Alex Deaconu
and Kyros Vassaras to sort out VAR just in case they were
looking for something a bit more in-depth [emoji12]

Apart from the second penalty being ovrturned brooks has been
terrific, firm fair in control and carded when necessary

Really? The telly here in Berlin must be faulty. Erratic and
poor foul detection throughout. Not at all impressed.

With the caveat that I'm writing as someone who clearly can't
recognise a non foul on a goalkeeper, I thought Brooks had a
       very good match

Brooks was far from his best today. At times I felt he lost
control of the game and lacked consistency with foul detection.
On the 2 penalties, I thought he was correct, however when Salah
went down in the box, he was playing an active advantage for a
free kick. There is a camera angle where you can see he has his
arm out whilst Salah goes down.
My observation of Brooks over time has been that he can be good
on his day, however I feel that he lacks interpersonal skills
with the players. I remember seeing him on Match Officials Mic'd
Up and I thought he was very abrupt and robotic when speaking to
the players. In my experience, this can breed dissent.
