Southampton v Leicester - Anthony Taylor

Very poor not to give Southampton a penalty for prolonged short
pulling. A massive moment in the game and how it played out.
He gave Liverpool a penalty v Wolves for the same offence.
No consistency is galling .

I like Anthony but he was awful on Saturday.
Looking directly at the incident referenced above and doesn’t
give it, despite awarding a penalty at the other end (correctly)
for the same thing.
Missed several fouls in the first half on Dibling especially.
His lack of consistency is becoming a problem.

10/10 performance for the red card alone 😉

Var should be coming in on this. Taylor does seem to give many
soft penalties but miss the more obvious ones at times.

Hence why Jarred has now usurped him potentially?

The non award of a penalty to Southampton was a stunningly poor
piece of refereeing. On MOTD it reported Anthony Taylor as
saying that he saw the incident but didn't give a penalty
because the pulling of the shirt did not materially effect an
outcome. If that is true then it really does call into question
his judgement as the pundits on MOTD so clearly explained.

So we are now allowed to play rugby on the football field as
long as it doesnt materially effect an outcome. Whatever
happened to the pgmol trying to eradicate shirt ( or shorts )
pulling? Surely if such behaviour is allowed on the field of
play it only encourages players to do it even more.

And will lead to more complaints abount inconsistency in
applying the LOTG when shirt-pulling is properly given

And that illustrates exactly why we cannot have referees
publicly mic-ed up like some sports do.
Even our "top" referees say things that are stupid or wrong or
both. These guys are earning a small fortune from the game and
that's the best they can come up with !
