Surely that’s a DOGSO red for Saliba in bringing down Evanilson?
Very surprised Jones went yellow for that in the first instance.

I suspect the distance out played a part in his decision for
yellow. The zoomed out view showed how certain it was as a red,
which he didn’t have in real time. I called red but wasn’t 100%
that wasn’t my red n black tints talking until I saw the replay!
He’s already on a 7.9 for that rag he is wearing and with Howard
in attendance…

I can see why Jones went yellow on field, distance from goal,
distance attacker from goal and also having to work out the
other defenders incl the goalkeeper positions.
He took a while and was discussing over comms i guess with 4th
official Robinson and AR 1 Davies. Correct call for VAR to
intervene in my opinion.
Jones and team doing a good job of blending in with the
volunteer first aiders, i assume Howard has had his ears burnt
about the vile choice.

Not so sure that was a red card, long way from goal and would
the Bournemouth player have reached the ball to have a run at
goal? I’m in some doubt and can understand why Robert Jones went
for a yellow card initially. There has to be 100% certainty it
was a DOGSO and I’m not sure there was.
It’s a subjective call IMHO.

Thoughts on the penalty and no card of either colour for Raya?
The penalty was nailed on, without question so if someone can
enlighten me on why no card of either colour was shown, that
would be good.

Just a friendly reminder/warning to our resident Arsenal fans
who have a habit of screeching injustice. DO NOT EVEN THINK
ABOUT GOING THERE. Any of the usual rubbish from you will
result in moderated posts at best, a ban at worst. We’re all
sick of hearing it! You have been warned.

On the DOGSO, the angle that showed the keeper retreating was
the key one for me. Without that I’d likely say there was too
much uncertainty to intervene, but I think that’s a good call by
VAR. I don’t blame Jones (presumably with advice from AR1 and
4O) for going for a yellow at first.

I thought red at the time and I think red is the easier
decision. Jones when it comes to key decisions I never feel he’s
going to get the decision right. Not the first time he’s needed
var to bail him out

It’s better to err on the side of caution if you don’t have or
not sure of the whole picture in a split second , no doubt Jones
could be sure straight away if it was DOGSO . So better to issue
a YC and then VAR may decide it warrants a OFR with the
possibility to upgrade to a RC better than way than to issue a
RC and then find out it should have been a YC
The fact Jones took his time at the monitor also suggests he
didn’t see the full picture in real time ( if anyone could
cover etc )

Personally I think you should always go red and then downgrade
to yellow rather than other way round
