As AT says, lots of new names with only a game or two at most in
the EFL under their belts. Hopefully a quiet and smooth weekend
for all involved in their first couple of games. Simon Mather
and Ross Joyce with a couple of nice games at the weekend.
Ben Speedie for us - does anyone know where he’s based? I know
he’s originally from the North West but seems to get a lot of
our home games for a Northern-based official if he is still up
there. It could of course be he works down South or something
like that. Then Dale Baines at Chesterfield in midweek, a new
official for me to “see”, at least through the iPad!

Just type his name into Google or Soccerbase and you can find
       out about him!!

       Request or demand?
They will be available when published!

Apologies aaa if I put a comment on this thread before the full
list of L1, L2 and NL appointments had been published and
transcribed on to RTR appointments by your good self. It would
probably be better to wait for the full list to be published
before commenting. And I do want to thank you for your herculean
efforts each week, particularly now that the NL appointments
have to be added to the already long list of weekend and midweek
       appointments in L1 and L2..
       [/quote]
The Appointment Officer just decided to press 'wait for it'
button today to prolong the publication hence the long wait :)

Ruebyn Ricardo appears to be making good and steady progress.
I shall be at The Valley on Saturday and will see Tom Reeves. I
have seen him once before and he gave a low profile, competent
performance on that occasion. I hope for more of the same.

One would think so from the appointments, but he was very
disappointing doing the Southend v Maidenhead match ten days
ago. Perhaps now he has established himself as a Football League
official, he considers this non-league stuff beneath him. He
liked the sound of his whistle too much, was overly fussy and
his first two cards, one apiece, were both unnecessary. He
didn't seem to have much respect for or from the players and he
spent too much of the game making it about him. His biggest
fault was failing to stop play after a player was accidentally
kicked in the head in the 6-yard box. Probably a penalty, but
that was a subjective judgement call. However it was
unforgiveable to leave the clearly badly injured player stricken
on the ground for half a minute before allowing the trainer on.
He wasted no time showing a yellow card to a player for pointing
out this particular shortcoming. I didn't recognise him as the
outstanding prospect I first saw at Concord Rangers a couple of
years back and whose first visit shortly afterwards, to Roots
Hall was generally accepted as one of the best of the season. He
has been selected and he knows it.

For years we been requesting more new refs in league 1 and 2.
But now I feel there too many being pushed.
Reason is some have barely ref many middles in the conference
premier and now they are thrown into league 2, they have no
experience of the expectation of panel level football let alone
football League for me I would of at Christmas put out the top 6
in the observes merit table of the conference.

This is disappointing to read m'learned friend, especially the
part about lack of respect. I hope the polite, dedicated and
modest young man I met a few years back has not been transformed
by success into something less pleasing. Sometimes when
promotion to a higher level is achieved it takes some
individuals time to find their natural rhythm of personality and
practice which served them so well in getting there in the first
place. I have seen it professionally several times but usually
people revert back and show their innate qualities when they
feel more sure of themselves. It never really happened to me
because I have always suffered from impostor syndrome and,
wondering what I was doing there in the first place, made sure
that I didn't give critics too much ammunition to shoot me down.

Mr Ricardo's second visit to Altrincham last season wasn't of
the same excellent nature as his first.
A couple of the traits identified above were also present on
       that occasion sadly
