Rob Jones - Aston Villa v Man Utd

For once I was actually going to support Mr Jones for his
consistency during the game in relation to player sanctions.
Then he blew it. A clear second yellow for Rashford, not playing
the ball and fouling an opponent in an attacking situation.
Sending off 100%. Then the inconsistent Mr Jones reappeared and
gave him a verbal warning. Sadly for me spoil an otherwise
       decent performance

I must be right. Keith Hackett agrees with me

They've been told to apply a much higher bar for second
cautions, Howard Webb has openly said that. Whilst I think this
was a caution, I can understand why it wasn't given.

Rubbish, there’s a higher threshold for physical contact. But,
that is a stone wall 2nd yellow and Jones has again bottled a
       big decision

The obvious.questions are why have they been told this and by
       whom?

As said many times the downside of Webbs insistence on managing
games and trying to keep it 11 v 11. If players are silly enough
to comit a second yellow card offence then they should be
       dismissed.

I don’t really see what you would second caution for in this
scenario? The challenge is never reckless … it’s a careless trip
and not dangerous in any way. It also cannot be a SPA offence as
Dalot gets to the ball and is therefore covering any potential
promising attack? So what point of law would you send him off
       for?
The problem with games as dull as this one was, is that people
within the media then go searching for anything to discuss to
       fill airtime.

Webb has literally said that they expect a higher bar for second
cautions. Not saying I agree with it, but it happened.

In which case we'll have 2 other YCs for Ross Barkley to go with
the one he finally got given. How did he not get a YC for
pulling back Fernandes in an attacking move (after Jones had
previously cautioned Eriksen early on for the same offence) or
when kicking Evans with his follow through?
Then yet again inconsistent where Maguire gets a YC for an arm
across the chest and Duran gets off with an arm in the face.

Oh Rob Jones - pitty on you, you was having an ok game then your
failure to send Rashford off was bad, it’s a situation again
where I believe Jones has bottled a red card which I believe he
has done on numerous occassions. He for me again is never going
to ever become w top referee
