       Quick Question!

       Hi guys,
       As a 19 Y/O I am still finding my place and potential career in
       the world. As a newly qualified referee I was just questioning
       the career progression and the chance to make a future out of
       refereeing. Is this feasible or not with regular promotions
       being highly unlikely?

       I started when I was 14, I’m now 20. I’m currently a level 5
       going for a level 4. If you put effort in you will be rewarded,
       and the better you are the higher you can get. A side note, Sam
       Barrott started reffing at 19 he was promoted to sg1 at the age
       of 30.

       Keep going and one day, we would be discussing your performance
       on RTR.  Some might be good whereby few would be indifference!
       ;)
       Joking aside, I would advise you to not let promotion be your
       main drive.  Promotion would happen, essentially quickly to
       Level 4.  Then there is a potential of stagnation, but not
       always.  Its not about how good you are, you just need abit of
       luck too with appointments, good observing and importantly, a
       match that players behave accordingly.
       Almost everyone hope to make it to the Premier League, but only
       0.000001% would make it there either as a Referee or Assistant.
       Just enjoy it as much as you can.  Good luck.

       You can now be promoted many times within a single playing
       season, and if everything goes their way a referee could in
       theory reach the Football League in 5 or 6 years.  It's the same
       as football in general though, the higher you go the less places
       there are, and referees often get stuck at a certain level for a
       few years.  I certainly don't think anyone can or should plan
       their career to be refereeing, as until you reach the
       professional game you won't earn anywhere near enough money to
       make it a career.   Even the Football League referees have other
       jobs away from refereeing.

       As in most professions, be the very best you can be at your
       craft and, very importantly, make sure the 'movers and shakers'
       notice you for all the right reasons.  Good luck.

       Make sure you are available to referee at any time, any place
       and also at very short notice, sure helps the person who
       appoints referees to games and having them onside certainly
       helps on the progression up the ladder. Go out and enjoy your
       refereeing, relax and put in the hard work on and off the field
       and see where it takes you.
