Ok, I give up. If that isn’t a penalty for Van Dijk pulling
Guehi back by the arm then I will never know what is. Poor by
Hooper on field and even worse from Coote in the VAR lounge.

You could see the drag pull Guehi back.
I don't think he's getting to the ball, but I think it's a
penalty (as I think it was for West Ham against Chelsea).

The PL promised last season that all holding all shirt pulling
would be penalised. Cannot remember last time we saw one might
even be last year. Makes a mockery when Oliver sent Tierney to
the screen in the Manchester derby for a pull that was hardly a
touch yet the two this season haven't even been given.
What is the point of VAR when they dont even follow their own
guidance?

I have to say I was irritated by the constant refs on TNT about
whether the pull back on Guehi was 'sustained' or not plus refs
to a similar incident in a West Ham game. At first sight, I
thought the decision not to give the penalty was correct, not
enough in it and all that, but subsequent sightings, which VAR
David Coote would have seen, suggest that a look at the screen,
at the very least, should have been suggested to Simon. I didn't
see the first 20 minutes but Simon seemed to perform reasonably
well up until the last 20 minutes, after which he seemed to lose
a bit of control as the Palace finally woke up and contested the
remainder of the game. Overall the right result and a long hard
winter in prospect for my beloved Palace..

Similar incident now punished at Brentford with Madley sent to
screen and gives it. Consistency ?

I agree AT, I couldn’t believe how long they moaned about the
decision on commentary - without adding anything at all of
interest to the conversation. I think about 15/20 minutes later
they were still talking about it! (Or maybe it just felt that
way!)
I felt it was a penalty but it seems the PGMOL seem to disagree
on these type of fouls.

Despite my known bias to the Palace, having now seen both
incidents, I think there is quite a marked difference between
the holding/pulling at the Palace, which was questionable, and
that at Brentford which was definitely sustained and worthy of a
penalty.
