Also is there a reason kavanaghs not with Bennett and robathon
as much anymore.they worked very well together last season

You'll get absolultely no sympathy from me. [emoji23]
FWIW, I thought the decision was correct. Not just because it
was Ferndandes/Un*ted, but because even though the contact
wasn't severe, this is the very type of nastiness and petulence
we need to eradicate from our game. This is the very type of
behaviour that needs to be stamped out at the top, so that it
doesn't fester at the bottom and become endemic within our game.

I agree with flipmode that this type of tackle, breaking up play
and giving defenders are chance to regroup, should be eradicated
but I don't think the law makers are actively trying to stamp it
out. The guidelines for SFP are woolly, 3 factors have to be
considered and two I think are subjective. Excessive force and
endangering an opponent and in this instance the case for red is
"grey", i.e. not clear. Yes contact was above the ankle, that is
clear, but were the other factors that have to be considered so
obvious a red card indicator? The red card pleased me, it could
well be a 50:50 call, but was it correct in law? I bet we will
see similar tackles in the future punished with a YC as we have
in the past.
Another thought, it is worrying that there is a disconnect
between what people generally think should be the punishment and
what was given.

The more I see of this, and I've seen it several times, the less
certain I am that a red card was justified. Writing in The Times
yesterday, Peter Walton was certain that it was a RC, above the
ankle and straight leg planted into the opponent's shin, and
this notwithstanding that Peter accepted that Fernandes slipped
as he went into the tackle. In other words, Peter was suggesting
that slipping was not a mitigating factor here at this level. If
this is the case, then yes, it was a red card offence, but I am
not convinced either way.

100% can’t blame kavanagh/west.it looked bad when the foot was
high.hopefully this will be on match officials micd up.this is
the type of incident we all want to hear

Not surprising. Not only that it was overturned but that an OFR
was not recommended. IMHO there is a different pressure on TMOs
this year to go with the on field decision. Hope we hear the
comms with Howard Webb. Sadly this will give ETG fues to argue
that the second half would have been different and United would
have won 😃

If it was me I wouldn’t have overturned it, it’s Bruno and he
has deserved it for a long time so I wouldn’t have overturned it
just to teach him a lesson and besides I don’t even know how it
was overturned yes he slipped but it was still shin high even if
minimal contact it’s still dangerous in my eyes

I don't think you can overturn it just because "he's deserved it
for a long time"!
And if he has "deserved it for a long time", it's surely a
failure of all those referees who let him get away with such
behaviour for "a long time".
