Rob Jones: Brighton v Notts Forest

I wonder what the Brighton manager done to get sent off? He
seemed very calm and respectful. Nuno on the other hand can
clearly be seen calling him a bleeping disgrace, so he was
correctly sent off. Gibbs White also with some bad language!
Was a reckless tackle with force for Gibbs White so correct 2nd
       yellow.

What doesn't help is the massive delay and the winning the ball
       signal.

Yeah, I think we can assume either the assistant of 4th official
has made that call. Immediately after the tackle Jones signaled
for a throw only and that Gibbs-White had won the ball. I'll
guess judging by the way it kicked off on the touchline that it
was Anthony Taylor who was 4th official who made the call as he
would have been seeing the incident from the opposite angle to
       Jones.

That’s exactly why I’m not a fan of 4th officials getting
involved unless it’s absolutely necessary as it can all become
quite messy especially if the referee has already made a
       decision

Why? It was a clear foul and a deserved second yellow. Whichever
one of them gave it they were correct to come in. Jones had a
shocker, too far from the incident signalling ball won and
throw-in. Right to bin moaning Santo. Penalty correct but for me
a few unnecessary yellows caused by loss of control

They are part of the officiating team and getting decisions
correct is more important than not upsetting a manager

With Anthony Taylor being the one getting all the abounds on
sideline I presume it was him that called it.4O is part of the
officiating team and he rightly stepped in when it was a clear
       foul

I don’t deny it was wrong , but when the on field refereee has
made the decision either VAR gets involved if it was clear and
obvious which is the case then VAR should have intervened . As I
said it looked messy despite the right outcome reached

VAR could not have got involved as it was a cautionable offence
       which is outside its remit.
