Mr Drysdale is not a Rovers favourite, mainly due to failing to
disallow a clear handball goal by Grimsby a few years ago. I was
also disappointed that he took no action, after the Milton
Keynes opening scorer goaded the home crowd without obvious
cause last season. Otherwise he was fine in that game.

I’m sure the admins will update but the club website now has
Matt Corlett to take charge rather than Darren Drysdale, so a
switch up for Monday night too

I will be going tomorrow to watch Ruebyn Ricardo in action. Not
sure if Acme is going. His second visit to Mornflake stadium,
with his first being on 29th April 2023, Crewe v Swindon. His
debut in the EFL.

Probably not, only just back from holiday. I was impressed with
Ruebyn last time and I wish him well for tomorrow.

In a game which was really easy to manage, Ruebyn somehow
managed to get the home fans really annoyed. Most of the game he
was fine, but I didn’t like how we wasn’t giving any shirt
pulling at all - especially on our striker. One decision that
was an absolute shocker was: our winger running down the wing,
Harrogate’s defender basically slices him from behind - no free
kick, but then gives handball against our attacker. At this
point, the home fans were livid. Our manager got booked for
dissent, I’d imagine, after not giving that free kick. It was
right in front of me, and the defender had no intention of
getting the ball at all, and was just wanting to take our
attacker out. Besides that, he didn’t get much else wrong as
such. Final couple of minutes finished under heavy rain and
thunder! Safe to say Ruebyn and team were quick to get off the
pitch following the storm! Crewe cooking up a storm (literally!)

Oh and another thing to add. Ruebyn didn’t let Harrogate’s
manager return the ball to our player? To set the scene. Crewe
1-0 Harrogate at the time. Ball goes out for a Crewe throw and
the ball lands right near Simon Weaver (Harrogate manager). He
goes to pick it up and give it to the Crewe player, but Ruebyn
whistles and tells him to not do that? What!!? It wasn’t like
Simon was going to waste time was it?

A pretty routine day for team ref, in a fairly physical game but
without any major incidents or flashpoints. A bit inconsistent
from Matt Corlett though, punishing some fouls and not awarding
similar ones and similarly being strict about throw in positions
at times and others not worrying. Nothing awful and nothing to
moan about strongly, but simply put, quite a forgettable
performance!

I've not seen any of the action, which from a Tranmere
perspective is probably a mercy, but our commentary team weren't
impressed with his eagerness to dish out cautions; 3 to Rovers
in the first twenty minutes or so.

Other than being quite physical, a pretty poor showing from your
lot i’m afraid. Jennings was for backchat when a home player
went down with a head injury - it was up the other end so didn’t
have a great view of it but he did get up quickly. Bradshaw was
for jostling with Tovide, definite yellow if he gives the foul
but other refs may have let it go. I can’t remember Khan’s one,
although he kicked the ball away in the second half and a
stricter ref may have sent him off for that.

Mr Hallam Peterborough v Bristol Rovers
First appointment for Mr Hallam at this level and he didn't look
out of place in my opinion.
Very fit and up with play with good communication, although he
has a strange upright running style, didn't stop him from moving
around the pitch just looked different.
Let a lot go but in the main was consistent in his application.
As expected some areas for improvement, especially around
advantage, which he probably recognised himself, as in the
first half tried yo play advantage which didn't materialise but
didn't bring play back, but in the second same thing led to play
coming back for free kick which everyone expected.
Last 15 minutes got a bit frantic due to Rovers come back and
his inexperience showed a bit as things he let go previously
suddenly became fouls to the frustration of the players and
management of both teams.
Most impressed with the fact he played 16 mins of additional
time...this was correct but so often officials would have played
half that as nobody expected it.
Overall , more difficult games ahead for him, but certainly a
very good start.

I winced (at home) as the thunder and lightning moved in just
before 5pm but then noted that the game had ended with a Crewe
win. I had visions of the players being taken off in added time.
Hope you didn't get too wet on the way home.
