That's an awful decision, one of the worst I've ever seen,
looking straight at it and comes to that conclusion.

As there are 250-300 decisions during a game you need to be a
bit more specific

Technically correct for delaying the restart, but god is that
soft. I guess that’s what the lawmakers want to penalise more
than genuine foul play

That’s a situation where you just say play on and forget about
it. Nobody is complaining otherwise. Now that’s all people will
be talking about.

Rice knows what he is doing tappimg the ball away to delay the
restart, standard yellow card
His own fault tbh

There is absolutely no way that the Brighton player went to play
the ball. If he had meant to kick it it was angled to go out if
play and the kick wouldn't even have connected properly to the
ball, we saw an angle that showed that. It's violent conduct and
a red card, despite what Rice does.

That is appalling by team ref, Rice hasn't touched the ball
(deliberately) as far as I can see. If anything Veltman has
kicked it against him, then deliberately kicked Rice. Whilst the
unfair/incorrect 2YC can't be reviewed directly, VAR should be
calling the ref over to the monitor for a potential red card to
Veltman. Whether or not that process would allow the ref to
cancel the 2YC as well, I'm not sure.

I think most people would be fine with this if it’s applied
consistently across every game for the whole season. We know it
won’t be (there’s even an example within this game of it not
being punished). For objective situations like delaying the
restart it should be simple to enforce consistently if the
officials are correctly watching the game.
Let’s see how long the directive lasts. The point has now been
made with a big name player/club impacted - let’s see if it
fades away over time, just like last season’s directives.

hi,
although i could be classed as being possibly a little biased, i
believe most people would consider the 2YC for rice, and 0YC/0RC
for veltman to be harsh in the extreme. ck could have applied a
modicum of common sense, spoke to both players and resumed
without need to sanction. indeed, if the ref or near side
assistant (lee betts?) had paid full attention to veltman's
attempted 'quick restart', they would have seen the ball would
have gone straight out of play. if, however, ck wanted to
strictly adhere to the rules, he missed the incident in the 1st
half where a brighton player wasn't quick enough to keep the
ball in play and proceeded to kick it yards down the touchline,
presumably to prevent a quick throw in.
i believe a potentially good game between two well matched teams
was ruined by over zealous officiating :(

I like kav he's one of my favourite referees 99 percent of the
time he has relaxed but firm style that coupled with his high
accuracy makes him one of our top officials, that said he has
decisions like this in him he very occasionally shows his
emotions allows his irritations cloud his judgement. I think in
hindsight he will be disappointed today , I think it's a poor
decision, it's back able in law so all good but unless he is
going to be consistent in his application which he wasn't in
this match then I feel it was an incident that didn't need
refereeing. Sorry kav an off day at the office for me .
