Probably a brilliant career move for her. She wasn't going to
join SG! so has probably achieved all she can in refereeing
terms. Now she is available to guide and develop the next
       tranche of female referees.

       Personally I’d say it’s a strange move. She’s only 40, and with
the way things are these days, I’d suggest there was every
chance of securing a spot in SG1. There’s plenty of time for
management from 50 onwards, and she’ll never replicate the buzz
of refereeing at the highest level. Obviously has her reasons
which we’ll probably never be privy to, but looking from the
       outside it’s a bit odd.

I agree, unless someone had tipped her the wink that SG1 would
not/probably not ever happen and this new role was offered as a
       sweetener?

There are many considerations people make when considering a
career move - having become the first female PL ref, maybe SG1
and constant scrutiny may not be what she wishes for any more.
Congratulations on a marvellous career and for being an amazing
role model for so many young, female refs. Enjoy the new
       opportunity!

SG2 isn't necessarily a bad position but it doesn't get any
easier at 40. I couldn't touch the fitness test she would have
had to do and I'm nowhere near her age.

I'm sure it's not a decision she will have taken lightly.
Perhaps after the Olympics she feels that she has achieved all
she is going to. Delighted she is going to stay involved with
the next generation of female refs - what a wonderful role model
       for them.
Congratulations on a fantastic career and good luck in the next
       phase Rebecca [emoji122]

Well that answers my question from the other day then, asking
