Alex Chilowicz - Brighton vs. Crawley

I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about the awful tackle
on Matt O'Riley causing him to limp off after a few minutes into
his Brighton debut. This was only punished with a free-kick. Has
to be at least a YC and potentially a case for RC?

There has been much discussion on my X timeline, what with
O'Riley being ex-Fulham, including a tasteless tweet from a
Sutton United player celebrating the bad tackle from Crawley
player Jay Williams.
Until yesterday, I'd never heard of Alex Chilowicz, then he
appears as a PL VAR and now a poor piece of referring from what
I can see.

Early in the game, keep cards in pocket. Maybe. If it was, then
it is a silly principle. To me it is a red card with the
potential to hurt a player which it did. Disappointing really.
Mind you it was so late the referee may have missed it.....

I cannot fathom how the red hasn’t come out for a disgraceful
tackle that has no place in the game.

I assure everybody that I have removed my rose tinted spectacles
for this comment. Have to say I was not impressed by Mr.
Chilowicz last night. Missed a few fouls/KMIs and failed to take
stronger, appropriate action on at least one occasion, as
mentioned by others. The very late foul on Matt O'Riley
definitely worthy of a caution, 6 minutes in or not. Positioning
not wonderful at times either. Not ready for promotion to SG2 or
SG1 on this showing, in my opinion.

Clear reckless tackle for me. It's late. Lunging. But not at
excessive force/speed and the point of contact is low.
Is this a development group official? To be on PL VAR and then
given a PL side in Carabao cup to me suggests he is a new member
of ERDP cohort 3. Can anyone confirm what level he was operating
at last season?

Quick Google search... He has transferred from PRO (America) in
2023 and has been placed in the football league so what is now
level 1.

He was on EFL, i.e. L1 & L2 games, as he is this season.
Surprised, like you, he was given a game with a PL team.

His arrival on these shores has been discussed extensively on
here this year.

Sorry, just like the OP, I had never heard of him. As a new
(ish) member I haven't trawled the whole site to see the
extensive discussions you speak of...

I haven't been remotely impressed by anything I've seen from
Chilowicz. It worked with Jarred but foreign imports shouldn't
become routine. Particularly not straight in at that level.
