Player sent off after appearing to urinate by pitch

So would the player's action be Serious Foul Play? Not in my
opinion. Violent Conduct? Again, not in my opinion.
Offensive/insulting/abusive language? Nope. So, I'm not sure
under which part of Law 12 a sending off is appropriate. Caution
for Unsporting Behaviour? Possibly. As they used to say in
school exams "Discuss". [emoji1]

I was on a game once where a substitute hopped over the barrier
to urinate at the back of the stand. The observer on the day
supported a RC and said that any public order/arrestable offence
should be a red card but as you say there is nothing in LOTG to
show this.

This also happened in an FA Cup match a couple of years ago. The
use of offensive, insulting or abusive language can include
actions.

I had a player ask if he could leave to urinate at the weekend.
Told him he couldn't leave the pitch, but he then went down and
had treatment (it did later force him off), and when he'd left
the field he used the opportunity to relieve himself.
I certainly wasn't going to go looking for trouble that wasn't
needed, especially given it was in bushes on the opposite side
from the stand.
Also noted the player who was going to come as a sub also take
the opportunity before coming on.

Correct, "actions" is explicitly mentioned in the Law so it
falls under that. I remember this coming up as a classroom
discussion topic during my basic referee training but thankfully
have never had to face this situation in real life.

I know it wasn't in the UK, but urinating in public could easily
see you arrested, so it is not too much of a stretch to say it
could and should be punished on a football pitch. Exposing
yourself in a football stadium can sure be classed as offensive
or insulting.

It's a criminal offence under the 1986 Public Order Act.

One of they key requirements for serious foul play is that it
must be a tackle or a challenge so I think we can rule that out.
OFFINABUS is always subjective but if the referee considers the
action to be offensive then it's a red card.

Indeed it is, bmb. However, I wondered what jurisdiction a
Football Referee in a game of football has over a statutory
unlawful act. Other RTR correspondents say that such an act is
covered under OFFINABUS, so I assume the player was sent off
under that part of Law 12.
