Good news. Both Prem v Prem clashes too.
Expect some very big appointments for Brooks this season.

As an aside, I do wonder about the fitness support and sports
science with referees. I know that they are now full time etc
but wonder if the balance of what they’re making refs do to
train, the travelling required (often with 4th Off and VAR
crammed in) and international appointments is being planned
properly. There’s surely a balance between training and
rest/recuperation. Don’t remember there being so many injured
referees as there have been in the last few seasons with some
for long spells.

This season is a very big one for Darren England.Obviously
didn’t have many appointments last season after the infamous
incident but he was a trusted var and a very good ref before
that.hopefully he gets his confidence back and gets a few big
games this season.i also expect Gillett and brooks to have big
seasons.my (very) early predictions for the cup finals are those

And he was terrible. 2 penalty decisions both wrong. Why Var has
come in on one and not the other when they are identical
scenarios

I was at the game. The City penalty was at the opposite end of
the pitch, but from the footage, while Mr Allison wasn't able to
see from his position, there was clear contact by Davis on
Savinho and VAR correct to intervene.
From my position, was uncertain about the Ipswich penalty claim,
there appeared to be contact on the attacking player and
expecting a stoppage and full review. However no VAR
intervention suggesting Mr Coote was happy with the onfield
call. It didn't feature in the MoTD highlights, as you'd expect,
if a clear error, so maybe my initial impression was wrong?
'Terrible' is a description I'd hesitate to apply to an official
who lost control of a game and made numerous mistakes. Neither
applied here, although there was at least one KME. Mr Allison
has improved significantly since I last saw him in the middle at
L2 level and hopefully he will continue to make progress.

It is not easy for someone to take over at very short notice,
especially when it involves one of the finest teams in the world
( but enough about Ipswich Town ! ) Bearing in mind those
circumstances I though Sam Allison generally made a decent fist
of things but clearly he did not have sufficient self confidence
to really be on top of the game. I think this shows that he is
still some way from achieving SG1 though he is clearly being
pushed hard by the authorities so it may come sooner than
perhaps it ought.
