The one good thing to come from that is Accrington haven't had

I'd generally agree with your post but fear you may have fallen
foul of the old saying about not speaking too soon.Were you at
our match against Oxford at the weekend? I really hope so
because I'd love to hear your thoughts on the performance of Mr
Mark Heywood. On a positive note I had a clear side on view of
the incident which led to Max Power being sent off and despite
the fact that a lot of our fans thought it was a harsh decision
in my opinion a red card was the right one. Max was nowhere near
the ball and it was a cynical challenge so he got what he
deserved. However that is the only good thing I could possibly
say after witnessing one of the most inept refereeing displays
I've seen in many a year. His only consistency was his
inconsistency and he really appeared to lose any control very
early in the game. I think it speaks volumes when even the
opposition manager admits that one of his own players should
have been taking an early bath. I sincerely hope this was a one
off for Mr Heywood.

You do for sure list some of the best officials,
Busby/Brooks/Coggins are officials are very good and will
progress higher. Breakspear is fine, not the best but fine, and
Backhouse I haven't seen so won't form an opinion. Tom Nield has
been the best official I have seen this season, on Saturday
Pompey vs Argyle. Sarginson, unfortantly, hasn't made anymore
friends in Plymouth.

The red card against Max Power has been upheld, and having seen
the incident on Look North tonight, I can understand why.
Cynical is certainly a correct assessment. However, looking
back, I recall red cards being overturned for similar cynical
challenges although I can't recall players or refs involved. It
is good imo that the authorities have chosen to back the ref in
this instance.

Regarding Max Power, I read that he had a three game league
suspension but also wasn't allowed to play in an additional cup
match which seemed a bit strange?

Seemingly the FA don't view the Checkatrade trophy as a valid
competition to serve suspensions. So he is suspended for that
game, but it doesn't count towards serving his three game ban.
Seems totally bizarre to me, can only assume it is because of
the involvement of U23 teams in that competition.

Suspended from all football until the ban has been completed.
Just happens a non eligible cup match is within the ban period.

I was under the impression that a fixed 3 match ban applied to
the next 3 FIRST TEAM (club) fixtures (other than FIFA/UEFA
matches) which could well include an exclusion from any domestic
'cup fixtures' as well as league fixtures.

I don't miss many games,but I did miss the Oxford game due to a
family holiday planned in advance.
From what I saw [ and speaking as a fan only] I had no
complaints about Max Power's RC, but I just cannot get my head
around why the extra game at the beginning was added.
