       Changes to Cricket Australia Umpire Panel

       Thought this merited a standalone thread to extend on the
       discussion in the International Appointments thread- am
       interested to hear people's thoughts on the model. On the whole
       I think it's a good one but this updated article also mentions
       the idea of chopping and changing appointments at a late stage
       in response to changing rankings, something that to me doesn't
       seem the best of ideas

       In a country as large as Australia, I'd have thought making late
       changes to appointments would be quite difficult, given a plane
       journey may be required to reach some venues from where you
       live.  In principal, I think it's good that it's based on
       performance, but changing matches late on may pose some
       logistical issues.
