Truro City vs Dorking Wanderers

It would seem that the checking of kit was not high up on
anyone’s agenda ahead of the National League South game at Truro
city today. Truro’s first game in the brand-new stadium was
suspended whilst DWFC returned to their dressing room, to turn
their shirts inside out so they could avoid the kit clash after
three minutes. Still, I guess this is a better solution than a
journey from Dorking to Truro being repeated!

I just mentioned this in a post in the L1/L2 thread after
another kit clash note! Honestly, this one is so ridiculous, you
can only laugh that the decision to go ahead in the first place
was met with an equally hilarious solution!

I can't fathom what would've gone through the referees mind when
she saw it pre-match. Numerous chances to review and not allow
it to happen.

I would expect a newly qualified grassroots referee to get this
right, never mind a ‘FIFA’ listed FA Women’s Super League
Referee !!!
Major development

So we're the shirts now effectively unnumbered? Or did they have
a tagger with a can of spray paint?

So, this happened to me (20 years ago) at Tonbridge. Tonbridge
play in blue and Kings Lynn had a mostly purple away strip. The
shirts were presented to me before kick off and - in the cool
light of the referee's changing room - looked to be
significantly different in colour to allow them to be used.
They weren't!!
I think we lasted more than three minutes before it was mutually
** agreed that a change was needed.
** - I.e. players, fans, club officials made it clear and the
referee finally saw sense.
Feel free to use the "dumb" emoji as appropriate!

Good point Leggy, take the kit outside…
You would have thought the away team would take a spare kit…

Might the possibility of this sort of occurrence be reduced if
photos of kits were available on league websites or simply
exchanged between clubs rather than relying on descriptions?

This excellent suggestion smacks far too much of common sense
ever to be adopted

I can just imagine the conversation at Dorking. "we play in red
and white so whenever we play away to a team in red we will have
to change. What colour shall we order for our change kit? I
know, a reddish dark orange. That should do!"
Whilst the referee was poor beyond belief in starting the match,
Dorking must take some responsibility.
I recall a match at Braintree (orange) against Newport (changed
from their normal orange to red) on a bright sunny day. Hard
work for everyone.
