The irony of losing to an offside handball goal is not lost! I’d
still rather that than VAR though. The game was a borefest!

Amazing how the Big Four - Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and
Chelsea - all have home games in the next round. The conspiracy
theorists will be working overtime I suggest.

Colchester United FC (First Team) v Brentford FC (First Team)
       EFL Cup

Tricky night for Paul Howard in a slightly niggly game. Was nice
to see him smiling with players a lot and they listened to him.
Most decisions I thought he got right, but some controversy over
2 similar KMI’s. For the goal, Donnelly went down thinking he’d
been fouled with both teams seeming to stop and look to Paul,
who waved play on. Brentford then had to simply square it and
tap into the net. Then in the second half, Colchester were
awarded a penalty for a foul on Egbo. Both for me are really
soft and even if I had to award one, i’d have said the goal was
a stronger case for a foul. That’s the inconsistency that can be
       bemoaned at times.

Ward gets constantly poor reviews on RTR, with many saying he
should have stuck to lining at which he was very good. And yet
here he is at OT, so what do we know?
As an aside why does Utd v Barnsley need to be the televised
game? Surely there are more worthy or appealing matches
