Match Officials List

I’m guessing that appointments for this weekend will come out
today at 4pm.
With that in mind do we have an official list of who the
officials are for the coming season….

My thoughts as well. Apart from Sam Barrott and AR Craig Taylor
at SG1 level, we seem to be missing promotions and also
retirements from last season. Or have I been asleep and missed
something? Strange.

The EFL site have updated their list of officials (SG2 and
National Group). With the combined list there are many
additions. Given that we already know about Darren Handley and
Rob Lewis, the only name missing on the list of referees I could
work out compared to last season is Marc Edwards.

Wow!! That list is huge now. I wonder if we’ll see a hierarchy
established within the list still (i.e. referees appointed to
their same levels as last year) or whether it’ll
quickly/gradually become a truly mixed set of appointments. I
agree it appears only Marc Edwards is missing from the referees
list.

From the lists on the EFL website, it appears that Mark Pottage
and Robert Merchant have been moved from Select Group 2 to the
National List.

If this is the case then the 2 that stand out for me are Uan
Cooper and David Richardson. Both long standing officials

Looking at the National League North/South appointments, Jake
Allsopp has moved into the middle this season. Gary Parsons and
Dean Watson as referees and Andrew Daniels as an assistant
appear to have stepped down a level although its only the first
weekend so might be a one off. Watson would be a surprise given
he was only promoted in Jan 2023, hopefully he can bounce back
stronger if he wishes to.

Looks like the competition for board duties this season will be
keenly contested by messrs Stroud, Ward and Martin 😂

I wondered about James Linington and (less so) Derek Whitestone,
but they are both back for another season as SG2s, along with
Keith Stroud and Darren Drysdale as 'fathers of the house'.
