Looks like Silva is getting the chop soon… being reported he has
refused to sign a new contract..
Big rumours of Brendan Rogers heading our way.
However, I’d love us to go for Fabregas at Como. He’s done a
brilliant job, and the glowing reputation of young Spanish
managers coming up in the last few years is impressive.

As long as Kieran McKenna isn’t linked, I’m fed up of seeing him
be the favourite for every vacancy about 😅.
On a more serious note, I find it strange why it’s not
particularly worked at Fulham this year. I think there is plenty
of talent and quality in your squad that you should certainly be
around 10th-12th.
TTFL, you will have watched much more of Fulham than myself so
what do you think the underlying problems are? Is there an issue
with the board or more so the board’s relationship with Silva or
maybe the manager himself?
[/quote]
The issue is Silva is in his last year of contract…. Offer is on
the table but still nothing signed.
I suspect Khan has now said, either sign up or we will boot you
out, as we seem to be very disjointed with all the speculation
around his future, and nothing really can be planned. Might
explain why the summer transfer window was a shambles.
Chicken and egg spring to mind.
My take is that we should get rid now, and appoint a forward
thinking, young manager who will have the backing in the January
window to stabilise the club. Fabregas would fit that mould.
I’m not sure on McKenna, we didnt really seen anything in the PL
that would give me the confidence to say let’s go for him.
I’ll be happy with a 17th place finish for this season given the
problems at present.
There seems to be talk of Silva to Leeds if he goes, with Farke
getting the boot.

Always an issue when people get to the last year of their
contracts. We’ve seen it so many times from the player
perspective when you can tell their head has been turned. Take
TAA for instance, he knew he was off to Madrid way before
anything was signed.
I suppose a manager doesn’t like the uncertainty but then if the
contract offer is there then it seems strange to turn it down,
otherwise you’re just effectively asking for the sack.
Young and sometimes inexperienced coaches have now been the step
forward for the last couple of years now. Look at Enz Maresca at
Chelsea and Vincent Kompany at Bayern. Both relatively
inexperienced at managing in the top flight with ‘smaller clubs’
but still managed to land jobs at bigger teams.
I think Fabregas is a good but very bold shout. There would be a
lot of pressure on him to keep you up, not that I think you’d go
down anyway. I think he could definitely build a very attractive
project and should he be backed, some decent runs in cup
competitions and maybe targeting that Conference League place
could be on the cards. I also think that players would want to
come and play for him perhaps making your transfer business
easier.
With McKenna, he didn’t really prove much last year but I think
the rapid nature of our success and getting promoted with a
large majority of our League 1 squad didn’t particularly help.
Our transfer business was poor when you compare it to
Sunderland’s this year, definitely in terms of not enough
foreign recruitment. We relied on too many high end championship
players that couldn’t really cut it at a consistent level in the
premier league. In my honest opinion, you give McKenna a squad
that has talent and quality, he will get them playing really
good attacking football. But also, in terms of our season, look
at who we’re 17th, 16th, 15th. Spurs, Wolves and Man Utd were
there too. The stark difference in quality between us and those
teams a couple of places above us was massive. McKenna probably
wasn’t pragmatic enough but by no means was that the reason we
went down, there were a whole host of other things that
contributed to that.

It would be a huge risk to get rid of Silva. One or more
established clubs are getting relegated this season, no way
Sunderland will be in danger and Leeds's home atmosphere might
see them escape. West Ham and Forest have new manager bounce, I
think with Silva have a good chance of not being one of those
established clubs, not so sure without him.

Muniz injured until the new year at the very earliest… possibly
February.
Very worried.
