Good fact heard on BBC earlier. Francois is the youngest referee
to take charge of the Final in European Championship history

Correct yellow for Kane shortly after missing a cynical foul on
saka , that is the sort of thing that causes referee to have
problems, perception of fairness is important , hoping that’s an
isolated err because he seems to be an excellent referee,I’m
very impressed. As I speak olmo gets a yellow for trying to cut
rice in half.
[/quote]
Agree in general about the perception of fairness but I felt the
foul on Saka was very much 50/50 YC and the Kane YC was nailed
on - a tad unlucky in the timing but I felt in isolation both
calls correct. I'm sure had he known that Kane would be getting
a YC in a few moments he would have issued the YC to the Spanish
player.

Nasty foul by Kane. Wasn’t a Scot sent off in the 1st game for a
similar challenge?

Porteous' [s]tackle[/s] assault was much, much worse!

Was that not a penalty for Rice holding foul on Laporte?

I think that post was more anti Kane than anything. Rather than
being about the challenge.

Not a foul for me - Laporte felt the touch of his arm and threw
himself down IMO.

I felt Laporte trapped Rice's arm against his side. Not a
penalty for me, certainly nothing for VAR to get involved in
anyway.

Or perhaps a defensive fk for simulation? I think the officials
have called it right .

Excellent first half in a fairly easy game for Letexier - but he
became involved when he needed to, not afraid to issue cards.
Hope for more of the same in the second half.

Excellent first half. Kept the game moving well, telling players
of both teams to get on with it when they go down looking for
soft fouls. Correct YCs, right up with play. Patience of a saint
to have Kane whinging at him after every decision. Let’s hope
all goes well for him (and England, finally!) in second half.
🤞🏼
