I would be interested to learn their criteria for excellence.
Handball is such a confused area these days but a genuine
enquiry, why was it not a penalty for Germany ? I should say I
was supporting Spain but still wonder.

Would have to watch again, but watching game live, and seeing
the replays at the time, I thought it was definitely not a
penalty. Firstly, it’s not deliberate. Then other criteria kick
in. Ball struck at speed, arm in totally normal position (by
side), normal movement for what defender was doing. Not sure
what defender can do to avoid it?
       [/quote]
The whole handball could have been voided since there was a
probable Fullkrug offside in the build-up anyway. Though this
would require a VAR zoom for sure.

Difficult game to refere, hindsight would tell you firmer action
in the early stages may have nipped the problem in the bud.
Mr Taylor tends to be very lenient early on in games as he was
tonight and Germany got stuck in trying to rattle the Spaniards
with a few challenges that should have been punished. These
types of niggly affairs for me Mr Taylor doesnt excel in, but
then you could argue most referees are similar.
Nothing majorly wrong, apart from Kroos should have seen yellow
early on which may have calmed things down.
I would guess that might be the last we see of Mr Taylor in the
middle in this tournament, but who knows what Rosetti and
Ceferin think or what politics come into play.
The results England are getting playing poorly makes me think
they might go all the way ie name written on the championship
and that may be Taylors final nail in the coffin

There is general agreement (on here and everywhere else) that
the early Kroos challenge should have attracted a yellow card.
I suspect that AT wanted to avoid going to the cards too early
but I wonder if a yellow card would have sent a strong message
and gone some way to prevent the deluge of yellow cards that
       followed?
We will, of course, never know. If the early yellow card had
worked, AT would have less paperwork post-match and an easier
ride on here (and with the match observer). If it did not work,
well what's the difference between 15, 16 or 17 yellow cards?

Regarding the early Kroos challenge, I suspect he simply didn’t
see the stamp on foot which is a standard YC - seemed a nothing
foul live and I only saw it on replay.
How many of the cards were actually on field cards? 10/11? If
so, that’s not an issue in such a game (that went to extra
time). There were a few subs etc, which UEFA directed referees
       to be strict with.
The only hindsight might be he wishes he’d blown up 30 secs
earlier which would’ve avoided the 2YC - he’d rightly gone past
the 3+ mins due to delaying tactics, but 5 was enough!
