Suspect there might have been more that weren't caught on
       camera.
He is just a very strange referee in terms of his approach and
mannerisms. I've never seen a top level referee get in the way
of play so much, he seems to have to take evasive action
multiple times per game. It is almost as though he just
shuffles around rather than using any kind of dynamic movement,
and as a result is constantly in the spaces players want to play
in. His player management is non-existent, for the first
caution he spent 5 seconds talking to the player warning him
then pulled a yellow out. Why do that, it makes no sense, and
just annoys the players. Then for the second yellow he shows it
immediately, turns away, then turns back to show the red, he
clearly had no idea he had already cautioned him. It is all
just very odd behaviour for a top level referee.

Normally a safe pair of hands - tonight it wasn’t. Didn’t tune
in to the atmosphere of the game unfortunately - as proved by
the disjointed ending at the final whistle

Haven’t seen anything from UEFA yet regarding the disgraceful
       brawl at the end.
Not surprised however, they are slow to enact any punishment or
       warnings these days.

Caught up with the game this evening and very interesting one as
referees. Kovacs definitely has his work cut out! Managing to
listen to the inane, ridiculous comments from Jonathan Pierce
was the biggest challenge. Didn’t have the feel of the famous
Ivanov game - a number of those cards were avoidable and he
seemed to just lose the plot. For me, Kovacs actually got many
things right but a couple of key things wrong.
       - Almost all the cards were spot on and consistent in this game
and with others - stamping onto opponent’s foot, blatant time
wasting, pulling back, SPA. Suppose he could’ve ignored some of
the bench antics for an easier life, but refs have been told to
       be firm with this.
-2YC was totally correct - happened to be early and first two
cards of the game, but tough luck and player’s own fault. People
commented on him speaking to him first then showing the card; I
actually think it was him saying to the player, it’s a very
       early card so be careful.
       - Spotted players going down too easily, particularly Turkey a
few times on the run, and was brave enough to hold his ground
       and keep waving it away.
       - CZE goal was rightly allowed; GK simply lost out in a fair
duel and there was no foul.
Issue 1 for me was the CZE disallowed goal. Nothing in it on
       replay and should’ve played on.
Issue two was the missed 2YC to TUR. Would’ve looked like
evening it up, but he caught him with point of elbow in side of
head and refs have given any reckless arm challenges a YC
throughout the competition. Had he gone off (10 v 10), the game
may actually have calmed down a bit?
Does need to show more personality - a smile here and there (!)
would help to just diffuse a few things. A permanent grouchy
look is like a one-toned whistle - loses its effect.
Will be interesting to see how UEFA judge it. Even if they
totally support it, he may be out, just due to the attention the
       game got.

I'm just not seeing the first caution for the Czech #7 as a
       caution. It's not a promising attack, it's not reckless - it's
just a bog standard holding offence.
Definitely no argument with the second caution (although I can
only surmise he didn't realise it was the #7 at first, hence the
       attempt at playing advantage!)

But a holding offence (even a bog standard one) is likely to
attract a caution simply because it cannot be explained away as
a mistimed challenge for the ball. It is an intentional act to
impede an opponent. Holding is never accidental.

Get where you’re coming from, and would be an easy YC to
‘manage’ (ie ignore) as the first one. Not sure it’s quite just
holding whilst challenging - if a player turns you / gets away
from you, and you clearly pull them back by the shirt, it’s
almost always a YC. It certainly has been in this tournament
and, if players go on to get YCs (even 2YCs) later in the game
for the same offence, it always seems unfair if a another player
got a free one because it happens to be early.
In previous recent tournaments, it became a thing to almost
avoid cautioning at all costs in the first 30ish minutes, and I
think teams caught on. This tournament has been generally very
good - keep games moving, wave away soft, engineered fouls,
caution only when needed (even if early).

Being intentional doesn't make it a cautionable offence.

       Off-hand I can't say I remember a player being cautioned for an
offence like this - I vaguely recall a few where they were
cautioned as it was stopping a promising attack though. I'm sure
I've seen other players this tournament penalised for
       holding/pulling offences without being cautioned.

Not explicitly, but intentionally holding an opponent is as good
an example of unsporting behaviour as one can find. You cannot
use hands to tackle / challenge so doing so is an intentional
       and pre-determined act.
