Every foul in the last twenty minutes or so has resulted in the
majority of them getting a card. Very stop start and no flow at
all to proceedings.

I don’t think any other ref apart from marciniak could have kept
the control Makkelie did tonight.best performance in euros
considering match difficulty

Full on Mike Dean-style advantage and goal signal for
last-minute goal!
Thought he was sharp and on the ball. Needed a strong, calm
referee. A strong performance.

Excellent all around, perfect referee for this game. Some of
Croatia’s tackling was getting out of control, he reminded calm
and authoritative throughout. Yes a lot of fouls and cards
towards the end but how many were wrong? None i say

Great recognition of nasty over niggle. Spotted the temperature
of the game had gone up, went with it and maintained full
control. I love his style
