Daniel Siebert : Georgia vs Czech Republic

75 mins and no major mistakes but I would say about the same
kind of performance as Vincic the other day , just stop start
throughout resorts to cards , has a aggressive look on his face
at all times when blowing for foul and producing cards on this
showing sums up his season and can’t see him going far in this
       tournament
Five minutes after I posted the above assessment he gave Soucek
a ridiculous YC and booked the Georgia sub when he came onto the
pitch ( I missed why ) but I would say for entering the field
of play without being told to

Usual fussy performance from Siebert. He just didn’t seem to
have that authoritative persona to his officiating.
I would add since the departure of Herr Brych, the quality of
the elite German officials has dropped off a cliff considerably.

Zwayer has improved vastly but not at the level of Brych

To me he didn't seem to ever have proper control. He was, at
times, chasing the game unlike the 2 English guys, Mackelie and
the Argentine guy who had their games under control and never
       looked stressed

The Soucek caution wasn’t reckless, but the vast majority of the
others were mandatory. Nothing much he could do to manage them.
Not sure what happened with the sub caution, as watching on
       German TV.
He had no chance with the disallowed goal for handball, but was
unlucky with the defender’s positioning for the missed handball
for the Georgia penalty. A different day or a different referee
       gets in in real time.
Overall, fine, but without stamping his pass for latter stages.

I’m in minority but thought he largely did well - this was a
much tougher game than a number of others and was likely going
to need a stronger approach. End to end, both needing / trying
to win. He rightly waved a quite few things away when players
were trying to exaggerate contact, but had to have quite a tough
line at times. Most YCs were pretty mandatory / expected.
Don’t like the YC for the sub - entering without permission -
didn’t seem necessary in the grand scheme of things, as there
was clearly a communication error, no harm was done and GEO
weren’t trying to waste time, as they needed to score.
Game will just be remembered for the final moment!
