Belgium v Slovakia: Meler

First terrible VAR decision of the tournament. The best
performance of the tournament ruined just like that. What do you
want the Belgium player to do?
And he didn't even score the goal!

H U MELER - Belgium v Slovakia

Unfortunately the letter of the law states its handball…
although it’s a scandalous rule but the German VAR and Meler’s
hands are tied with regard to implementation of the law.
It’s a stupid law and needs reviewing with despatch.

Thanks for your explanation. It's ridiculous though. It's a
completely natural position. I suppose that by law, this then
ties in with Melers faultless showing so far.

Once VAR were made aware of hand contact, which did move the
ball forward, the goal had to be disallowed.
The Turk has been very good (a combination of Cakir and
Proenca), busying himself across the field to be close to play.
Be good to see him later in tournament (happy for him to do an
England game)

I turned off after that decision. Scandalous, end of!
