Lovely theatrical overturn signal. Right from the Billy Bowden
school!
Early yellow card was probably correct too.

Well onside by a country mile for the goal. Good decision by VAR
to bail out the AR

Poor start for team ref, rightly overturned by VAR. Yes it was
close, but this is definitely one thing we seem to do better in
the PL, we rarely disallow good (and offside) goals in
real-time.

For an alite assistant that is a really poor call, he's
obviously focused on the body and missed the trailing leg.

IMO thought you early yellow card (4 mins i think) was very
soft.
Been ok otherwise

Few minor things I could have a whinge about however I am too
busy shaking my head at my team's lacklustre display,
particularly the defending that an U4 team would have been
embarrassed by! I didn't expect my team to win, I did expect
them to put up a fight and actually play football, they failed
to do so - dismally failed.
No game changing errors from team ref, couple of niggly bits but
nothing major really. Not the best start with the offside call
by AR2 that needed overturning by VAR but that aside nothing
that changed the game in a negative way. They can go home heads
held high.
Off to drink copious amounts of pálinka while joining in the
search for our missing defence, midfield and strikers...

Slavko Vinčić - Hungary v Switzerland

Thought he did well generally. Looked sharp and alert at all
times. Liked that he let the game flow. I much prefer the ref
waving things away when players going down too easily - worked
well here and he was consistent with it. Quick to quash anyone
slightly questioning/getting involved - new rule on dissent is
good, but nice to see ref try to prevent . YCs were right.
Only issues for me were:
1. AR offside call - very poor call from AR2, corrected by VAR.
Should get that right live.
2. Should’ve played advantage near the end (no-one will care as
Switzerland scored again and won), as the player who was running
on to the ball was clear and not offside.
3. 5 mins was far too short for original stoppage time. Although
some got carried away in WC, really should’ve been 7/8 due to
number of subs and stoppages. Had to add bit more in the end
anyway due to late goal.
One thing that happened a couple of times - but seems to happen
every game now: close offside near half way line is rightly let
go until attack ends, then flag goes up. Free kick is then given
in / near the area. Surely the defending team should get the
kick back up near half way? Sometimes they lose the ball quickly
/ they get put under pressure / goes out for attacking throw.

Is it not similar to the fact that if an offside player goes
back into their own half, that is where fk is? Or otherwise no
Assistant is going to run 40 yards to give place of offside
