K JOHNSON - Southend v Barnsley

Jacob Browns red card looks a little harsh.. Johnson had a great
view and yes it was over the top but no contact.
One of those cards which looks controversial but not 100%.

I was at the match and as soon as I saw the tackle, which was
straightleg, off the ground. studs showing and ,in my view,
endangering an opponent I thought red. Johnson made a pretty
swift decision, I doubt he needed or received help from ARs or
4th.
I was impressed with Johnson. Not perfect by any means but
controlled the match well. I have seen far worse officiating at
this level.

He did miss a rank bad stamp by a Barnsley player right in front
of the dugout area. With the card shark Breakspear down in the
vicinity as well someone should have spotted it.

McGheehan was the guilty party.. I think the FA might be issuing
a polite summons to their naughty office for a ticking off...
was a definite red had it been seen.

From the Barnsley website:
--- Quote ---
> Cameron McGeehan has been suspended for three matches.
>
> The midfielder has been issued with the ban from the Football
Association arising from a charge of violent conduct. The
Football Association had this to say:
>
> “Cameron McGeehan will be suspended for Barnsley’s next three
matches. The midfielder denied a charge of violent conduct,
which followed an incident not seen by the match officials but
caught on video in the 54th minute against Southend United on 02
March 2019, but it was subsequently found proven by an
Independent Regulatory Commission.”
>
> Barnsley Football Club are disappointed in the decision to
suspend McGeehan.
>
> The Club offered the view that the video evidence shows the
opposition player moving whilst on the floor, when McGeehan was
unable to change the course of his direction in mid-air. There
was no complaint from the opposition players, staff or the
officials at the time despite it being in front of both dugouts.
An apology was then instantly offered and accepted from each
player involved.
>
> The games McGeehan will miss are Accrington Stanley (H),
Sunderland AFC (H), Doncaster Rovers (A).
>
> The Club will make no further comment on the matter.

I was surprised all the officials missed this particular stamp.
It wasn't pretty. At least justice has been served.
