if I was makkelie I would be asking Rossetti why isn’t he
getting these games.2022 clearly best placed for the final.2023
he had the chance but 1 poor game.2024 robbed because of
politics

I think the answer may lie in Reply #1 to this thread. Last
night was a very reactive performance by Vinic. This seems to be
exactly what Rossetti and his Committee want. Makkelie imposes
himself far more on a match and therefore tends to become more
of the focus more of the time. That said, I think Makkelie is an
excellent referee but if the authorities want understated, then
he will never be a particular favourite of theirs.

I would guess the Borussia Dortmund defender was booked for
asking for a card as Vinicius Jr would have been sent off. And
it would have been right, clear simulation with the holding the
foot feigning injury. Big occasion, keep 11 on the field, came
to his rescue, lucky boy.
Anyway, Just because the offender is right, or has a point, does
not excuse the offence. Asking for a caution has been sanctioned
for a long time now so pure idiocy from the defenders point of
view.
Vinicius Jr. First yellow was a very clear yellow. Lunging,
late, and in a reckless manner. Just because there "was no
contact" does not negate the recklessness in the challenge.
Again the GK antics feigning injury was embarrassing and not
required.
Thought overall the referee was good. So great to see dissent
being dealt with appropriately on the biggest stage of all.
Imagine everyone dealt with dissent like this, it would be
eradicated in half a season, except for the most brain dead of
players.

There was nothing wrong with Vinicus Jr's challenge. The
goalkeeper delayed his clearance and allowed Vinicus Jr to close
the gap and make a challenge for the ball. He didn't foul the
goalkeeper, the goalkeeper made contact with him with his follow
through in kicking the ball as was clear on the replay. Your
comment about the goalkeeper feigning injury sums it up nicely.

He wasn’t given a second YC because the Ref incorrectly gave
him a free kick
