Brighton v Chelsea - Michael Salisbury

Not the best of halves from him.
Awarded a penalty to Chelsea which VAR got involved to overturn
as the defender had got the slightest touch on the ball.
Missed a horrific deliberate shoulder to the chin of a Chelsea
player by Lamptey, VAR then doesn't get involved (apparently the
camera angle was too wide?). Commentators absolutely astonished.
The Chelsea player was concussed and had to go off. - here's a

Then a disallowed goal for an alleged push - there was no foul,
however I think it would have been offside.
Really not the best half in any way.
Second half little better.
Adingwa tried to manufacture a penalty, which was rightly not
given.
Jackson clean through, took the ball round the keeper who was
flying out, wasn't touched but the argument would be it made him
take evasive action. Free kick was given but only a yellow card
despite there being an open goal, albeit at a tight angle.
Personally it's not a decision I like, I would prefer no foul
given no contact.
James sent off by VAR late on for a push out with his feet
following a foul. Soft red card, especially in light of what
Lamptey did. Wonder if Chelsea might appeal, citing the Romero
"petulant but not violent" incident from earlier in the season
that was more of a kick than this.
10 minutes of injury time at the end which seemed very
excessive.
Didn't really have control throughout the game in any way.

Very very messy refereeing. Problem with Salisbury is he had a
good 2nd season 22/23, but this season he has tried to over
manage games, his not established enough to have the respect of
the players for that.
He fails to take action on clear yellow card offences, and that
dreadful tackle should have resulted in a red card.
Back to drawing board for Salisbury as this was a really poor
game for him.
