       R JONES - Man U v Newcastle

How on earth has a penalty not been given for the foul on Gordon
       by Amrabat.
It’s a clear scrape down the Achilles of Gordon and clear
contact, yet VAR has ruled no penalty.
       I’m bamboozled.

Astonishing decision. No idea what they are doing.
And this is why VAR for subjective decisions should be scrapped.

I’m still absolutely astounded that someone of the calibre of
       Gillett hasn’t spotted that foul.
It’s an incredibly poor decision and it doesn’t help the
reputation of VAR in these troubled times.

Playing devil's advocate, it isn't obvious in real time and
takes multiple replays from different angles to see the contact.
Was it a clear and obvious error in that case?
This is where football has got itself into a mess. I don't
believe that this was the kind of foul that VAR was implemented
to spot, but as it has got involved in such challenges in the
past years there is now an expectation.

I suspect VAR simply checked that Casimero had got the ball and
didn’t check what Amrabat was doing.

I just wondered whether VAR were so focused on the Casemiro
challenge they didn't look closely enough at Amrabat's. Must
admit I was looking more at Amrabat's arm, whether he was
pulling Gordon, and whether it was inside or outside the area.
Totally missed the foot contact until the 3rd replay.
Just seen that Jake the Peg had the same thought.

Swings and roundabouts - United fans would argue they were due a
decision after all the bad calls against them in recent weeks ?

The problem with the argument it was only clear and obvious from
a specific camera is the cameras are there for a reason,
textbook penalty that yes you can forgive at first glance for
not giving it but with unlimited replays it has to be given
