S HOOPER - Aston Villa v Liverpool

Did Kavanagh as VAR check the initial pass from the right wing
to Diaz before they checked the pass to Gomez?
Unless I’m missing something, but the first pass to Diaz looked
offside to me IIRC.

Both were checked the line went to that one, from Gomez when he
pass/shot it, the player in the middle played him on, I thought
it was on

I think Simon Hooper has been rather lenient in that 1st half
with a couple of those Liverpool challenges that were not
sanctioned with a YC

Pity we don't see the lines for the fourth Liverpool goal that
was disallowed.

That game sums up this whole season; absolutely electric, a
brilliant game between 2 semi decent teams, drama right to the
end, and VAR being very slow in judging offsides!
Even had a bit of Duran Duran to top it all off!

And misser Diaby 😂
Atmosphere in the ground was electric in the latter stages, game
could have gone either way.
Thought Hooper had a very good game, he set his stall to be
lenient and try to let the game flow, had little choice to issue
Elliott with a yellow for delaying the restart and mcginn for
the so called professional foul.
A few very tight offsides not called by Holmes also some very
good calls from him.
A good night for team referee, even though there were many
renditions of who is the scouser in the black from a racous
crowd.
Hooper would be deserving to be in the frame for the
Championship play off final

Although I did not watch all of the game, I was impressed with
Simon Hooper (based on the bits I saw).
I was particularly encouraged when John McGinn got on his wrong
side; Simon Hooper pulled him to one side and let him know so -
in no uncertain terms! It is good to see a referee with a bit
of personality (as opposed to a semi-robot type who tries to see
the player's side of it). Everyone got the message, especially
McGinn. Simon Hooper might not, however, be the best poker
player!
