Clattenburg

Sky sports reporting he has resigned from his advisory role at
Nottingham Forest after just 12 weeks.
What an absolute fiasco this whole charade has been and the
damage it’s done to his reputation, and the reputation of
Nottingham Forest.

Won't have done his bank balance any harm though I suspect
😂

A fine referee but sadly remembered for the wrong things. His
position was untenable imho. No real surprise that he has gone
but I was surprised that a football club should need such a
position!

I am not that surprised and I am sure the clubs and players at
the top level are briefed on the referees before their games,
although by whom, I have no idea, former PL referees perhaps.
The sadness in this case is that Clatts was allowed or allowed
himself to take matters further and become embroiled in issues
in which he should have played no part and, as a result, yes,
his position at Forest became untenable.

I would have thought that a referee consultant has a role for a
major football club. Clubs are spending money on throw-in
specialists and Brighton have just paid a fee for the Frankfurt
club doctor given his success...!
Surely a club could get some reasonable value out of actually
knowing how to 'manage' referees and officials - e.g. avoiding
the aspects of the game that certain officials dislike;
maximising the leverage/accommodation that certain officials
allow; working on some of the 'dark-arts'; and less
problematically, how they can build better relationships with
officials.
Instead, Forest have just thrown all the toys out the pram with
some of their mindless whining. Not a good look for anyone
involved.

One of the reasons for resignations was comments made to him by
stakeholders in the game.
He literally wrote a column in a major newspaper hanging the
officials of the day out to dry.
Is he not spotting the hypocrisy?

I’m not sure why he’s complaining about being targeted by
pubdits, when thats exactly what he did to Paul Tierney.

As my dear late Nanna used to say " he who sups with the devil

And who plucked out Clattenburg and gave him his first chance in
the top flight..
K S Hackett.
Perhaps his outspoken misadventures inspired Clattenburg in his
vociferous attacks on other referees.
