       Promotions/Retirements
   DIR By: MichaelRef

       Any Predictions on Promotions?
I expect Robert Jones and Andrew Madley will be promoted to SG.
I wonder if a "few extras" will be added to SG (although mostly
operating in the Championship) in light of VAR, perhaps Peter
       Bankes.
We know Aussie Gillett is going to join SG2. I expect Toner and
Whitestone will be amongst considered candidates to join SG2.
Any News on Retirements? Particularly amongst NG - because this
will impact on numbers being promoted from the National League.
Any Stand-Outs for Promotion? David Rock possibly.

That's a bit of a two bob statement.

I guess a lot will depend on how VAR is to be organised as to
the number of promotions needed to SG1. Until that is clear it’s
difficult to predict how many will be promoted.
As for retirements, there must be a fair few names on the list
as potentials. Salisbury? Boyeson? Kettle? Duncan? East?
       Ilderton? Kinseley?

I have a hunch that Mike Dean and Roger East might call it a day
       - maybe others too if they are offered VAR contracts that are
attractive enough. I think a certain amount will depend on
whether they are willing to use ex-officials on VAR duty or not
       - I'm not sure how this works in other countries?
Madley and Jones must be the two outstanding candidates to be
promoted to the Premier League. Robinson was in contention last
year so I guess must be considered too and Peter Bankes has
       picked up some good appointments.
With the introduction of VAR, I wouldn't be surprised if we see
more changes than normal at the end of the season, in one way or
another - I reckon they're at least going to ensure the list is
back to 18 active officials as a minimum.

I’ve been told Adcock has called in quits due to inability to
       recover from injuries.
Shame as was a talented ref who would have made it to the prem -
       no doubt!
Think Collins might retire as well as he has had a lot of
injuries and isn’t getting any younger. Plus the likes of
ilderton and Clark who are also injured more often than not!
I’d get rid of east and promote jones and Madley. Toner,
Whitestone and Salisbury jnr should get promote to sg2.

Shame about Alcock as he was a promising Ref. Seems we have had
some bad luck with talented refs being injured long term in
recent years - I keep coming back to the outstanding Michael
Naylor who had to retire due to injury and would surely by now
be in the PL and even on FIFA.
The double whammy is of course that others who do not have the
same talent benefit and are promoted to positions beyond their
natural ability. Leave it to you to work out who.

If the card shark and Grandad call it a day then it’ll need at
least 3 to go up, and more SG2 being used in the top flight due
       to VAR.
It can only be Madley and Jones thus far. Given the rest of the
dross in SG2 I fear another recruitment crisis is imminent.
Bankes isn’t ready, it’s probably a shade early for England and
Brooks ability wise. Other than that... the rest is not good
       enough.

Linington? Not seen him live for a few seasons now mind but he
always did well at Dean Court when we played in the proper
       leagues.
