Some new names here, probably not a surprise after some
retirements and the tournament being hosted in both the West
Indies and the USA. Interesting to have two International Panel
members from Pakistan there. I can also see Sam Nogajski being a
future Elite Panel member, so good to see him get an
opportunity.

Congratulations to all those officials who have been appointed.
Pleasing to see 5 new names in terms of a senior men’s ICC
tournament. Hope they go well and will be interesting to see how
the ICC uses them as neutral officials in series over the next
couple of years.
Slightly disappointed as I was hoping to see representation from
either Ireland (Black) or Afghanistan (Pakteen).
Also it seems to confirm that Palliyaguruge and Brathwaite are
no longer considered by the ICC for promotion.

Good to see some new names involved in an ICC tournament. Will
be interesting to see if any of those names get test matches in

Now the appointments have been released, all selected officials
get 4 on field appointments and 2 appearances as TV ump.
Opening game honours go to Illingworth and Sharfuddoula. The
traditional rivalries go to Wilson and Menon (Aus v Eng) and
Illingworth and Tucker (Ind v Pak). Quite a nice spread overall
including a few games with no elite panel representation on
field or in the TV chair.

From the umpires list, it looks like Jayaraman Madanagopal, Sam
Nogajski, Rashid Riaz and Asif Yaqoob have now all gone home.
All Elite umpires have been retained alongside Alex Wharf,
Langton Rusere, Allahudien Paleker and Chris Brown from the
international (second group) list.
From the Match Referee list, Javagal Srinath and Andy Pycroft
have supposedly gone home too.

Hi all- short time reader, first time poster
Think we can take this to mean that Paleker has now been
promoted to the semi-official Emerging Panel in place of the
promoted Saikat and the retired Paul Wilson? Hopefully he picks
up an overseas Test soon

Agreed looks like the four international panel umpires are the
ones under consideration for promotion to the elite panel. I
reckon it’s nailed on Wharf will replace Illingworth in the next
year or so. I also think the ICC will start pushing Nogajski as
well, Rod Tucker is 60 this year so will likely be leaving the
elite panel in the next few years.

I agree with what has been said above. It was nice to see new
names in the tournament mix - the games I’ve seen seem to have
been relatively controversy free from an officiating viewpoint
although I haven’t quite seen it all!
Moving forward, I’ll be intrigued to see how the appointments
look. Clearly the 4 international panelists being kept are the
new emerging panel - will we see one of them in England for a
test this summer perhaps?
