Absolutely disgusting, no place for this. I hope criminal
charges are brought and both a lifetime ban and heavy fine are
imposed.

Disgraceful, even more so because he looks like a young lad on
the receiving end. As you say, the aggressor should have charges
brought against him and be banned from participating in arranged
football for life.

I read somewhere he is only 17. Appalling assault. Really hope
the vile [can't say what I would like to but I'm sure we're all
thinking it...] is arrested, goes to trial and gets a nice long
prison sentence followed by a lifetime ban from all footballing
related activity.
Importantly as well though I hope that the young man is ok and
being supported & looked after physically and mentally. My
thoughts are with him and wishing him a speedy recovery in all
respects.

An extended footage is now available on most news sites. The
more I see it the more I am appalled.
The thug no doubt didn’t realise there was a camera about so
there is karma there. He has been caught red-handed. I am a bit
surprised by the police asking if anyone has any other
information or footage to get in touch; I think it’s pretty
clear from the camera what happened and hope this evidence
stands up in court. The chap with the thug just walks away once
the blow has been struck so he comes out of this with zero
credit too.
The linesman was 17 so he is classed as a minor. As I understand
it the minimum custodial sentence for assaulting a minor is 2
years and can be up to 19 in very serious cases. let’s hope both
the police and the FA in question have the guts to throw the
book at him.
Name, shame, ban and jail for the sake of grassroots football
everywhere.

I hope whoever is tasked with prosecuting this vile example of
humanity does a good job. No doubt the Defence will push for a
suspended sentence which should not be entertained.

How anybody can defend the indefensible fair boggles the mind in
my opinion.
He should also be banned from every football ground for life
without question.
The paltry bans ranging from a few months to a few years is
insufficient and doesn’t send out a message of zero tolerance.

As an ex defence brief it's really quite simple - the taxi rank
process. You don't get any say in who you do or do not defend.
You pick someone up as duty solicitor at the police station and
as scummy as they may be you have a job to do and not doing it
gets you into all manner of problems with the Law Society. You
have to have a very good reason to not take a case and the
selection of good reasons is very small.
I remember one year waking up to find a photo of myself on the
front page of the daily mail calling me a disgrace to every
woman worldwide as the defence solicitor to 2 defendants in a
particularly nasty gang rape case - I was the only female, all
other solicitors and barristers were male. I'd originally picked
up all 4 defendants as duty solicitor and was able to ditch 2 of
them whilst still in the police station due to a 2 v 2 of blame
against each other. It was a nasty case, I didn't want to be
there but I had no choice as per the Law Society rules. You just
get on and do what you are paid to do or risk losing your
licence. As it was one of mine pleaded guilty and gave evidence
against the 2 I had ditched and were found guilty at trial and
the other one was acquitted as he was seen on CCTV about 10
miles away at the time so could not have been part of the gang -
the alibi he gave when arrested. They used a great photo of me
coming out of the police station in a tracksuit and trainers at
about 4am having been in there for 56 hours solid, I looked an
absolute wreck!! They kindly published it on my birthday as
well!

Turns out the young line was 22 but that makes little
difference, other than to the headline writers
The club has sacked the 43 year old coach who has been arrested
and subsequently bailed
