How on earth was that clear and obvious? I know you'll say
technically it is but he's gotta be stronger and it ain't worth
an OFR.

An absolutely astonishing decision. Ref is looking directly at
it, he's seen it clearly and decided no foul.
Compare that to the clear foul before Arsenal's 3rd goal earlier
in the week which VAR didn't get involved in.
This is a textbook example of re-refereeing IMO.
VAR is ruining football.

No way Chris Kavanagh gives that on field. But as VAR, like all
of our officials, utterly hopeless. Craig Pawson doesn’t have
the nerve to go with his gut on field, and caves in to the VAR
for the most minimal of contacts.
Honestly what are we coming to?! Did any Villa player even
appeal?!

He barged into his back. You cannot hold your position when
someone charges into you like that.
No wonder VAR gets unfairly slated when folks say that is not a
foul. Pawson should have seen it I suppose but it was a clear
and obvious oversight imho.

I'm probably letting my bias show here, but when you see Arsenal
score a goal following a clear foul in the week which VAR don't
get involved with as it was a "coming together" when Madueke was
kicked and rugby tackled, but do get involved for this, I'm
sorry, it just sums up the futility of VAR.
I've got no issue if they would be consistent in ruling out
goals for fouls in the build up. But they're not. Pawson was
looking directly at it.
Do we think a penalty would be given if the roles were reversed?
Not a hope in hell!

As a neutral watching the game I called foul in real time. I was
more surprised to see Pawson let that go than I was to see an
OFR.
It’s a good intervention and exactly what VAR is there for.
As for the Poch comments post match, if Villa are awarded a goal
with the same build up at the other end, with no intervention, I
am sure he would have had just as much to say.

Again, no issue with that, but as a CFC fan we were not given an
OFR for the Grealish handball in the semi final or the Gabriel
foul before the 3rd goal on Tuesday.
Also, do we think a penalty gets given if roles were reversed?
Diego Carlos doesn't appeal for a foul.

For me it’s a foul and good intervention by kavanagh.you can’t
barge into someone’s back even if there was a poor decision in a
previous game

Which is why VAR for subjective decisions should be scrapped. It
heightens the sense of injustice.
I am very surprised that an OFR was recommended given that
Pawson was looking right at it, and didn't give a foul. An OFR
is meant to be for when a ref has missed something, is it not?
