Paqueta has escaped (for me) a definite yellow card already.
Will be watching Taylor closely today.

For me that’s a red card, he’s nowhere near the ball, studs up
and over the ankle of McAllister. How it’s not even a yellow
when the referee is right in front of it is truly baffling.
Curtis Jones and Cristian Romero will be looking at that in
astonishment after their reds earlier in the season for possibly
less than that given that they won the ball and followed
through. Paqueta wasn’t even close to the ball!! No intent to
play it!

Great offside call by Adam Nunn. Looked quite obvious but Tim
Robinson on VAR agreed (took 2 minutes mind)

Incredible how a FIFA official is rewriting the laws of the game
to suit himself.. Gakpo should have put the ball in the net and
goal be given. Taylor has no business blowing that up...

God knows what has happened now, Areola has thrown the ball down
in open play it seems, and when Gakpo has run in Taylor has then
stopped the play. It was potentially a foul against Areola prior
to that, but Taylor seemed to signal play on.

As Taylor didn't even give a YC, maybe VAR should have called
him over to the screen. At least with a yellow, you could argue
it wasn't incorrect and no review was required.

Did AT give a foul against Paqueta? Could that be classed as
missing a key match incident rather than C & O, or does that
only apply to off the ball incidents?
Mind you, he seemed to be looking straight at it so not sure how
he missed it.

The Paqueta challenge looks really bad in slow motion, but much
less so in real time. There really isn't a lot of force, so I'd
say a caution would have been the correct outcome.

Is this chap really going to Euro 2024 as one of our referees or
did I dream that?

As much as I find him overrated and at times infuriating (the
Paqueta challenge completely unpunished today, Forest’s denied
pens last week, amongst many other incidents), he’s getting
unfair flack for the Areola/Gapko incident. For me, he blows up
as he thinks Areola is hurt and possibly concussed. He dropped
the ball and didn’t stop looking up, so Taylor within his rights
to blow the whistle and avoid a potentially nightmare situation.
Does anyone else agree or did you see it differently?
