       R JONES - Nottm Forest v Derby

Very very impressed by Jones in the first half. He has got
everything right thus far, including booking Wilson later on
until the ball went dead for a late tackle.
He has handled the handbags sensibly and calmly, sanctioning
       cautions correctly.
He is definitely the next Michael Oliver.

He's a heck of a lot older than Oliver was when he broke into
the PL (already 31 I believe) but he certainly has a similar
presence, probably even more so because of his physical size.
At least we know what he has been doing during his recent lay
off, growing his hair by the looks of it, I didn't recognise him
       at first.

My question is why has he not been given a PL game yet!
Especially when you look at how poorly a number of SG1 members
       have performed this season!

I thought that he refereed extremely well using common sense to
diffuse some situations that could easily have boiled over. His
awareness that this was a local derby shone through as far as I
was concerned and he was on top of everything very quickly.
       Impressive display without doubt.

This was the first time that I had seen him and can see why he
gets good reviews. Impressive and his communication skills look
to be well honed. Defused a potentially nasty situation well.
       Well done.

So hope for the Devon giant yet!
Perhaps Rob thinks there's some tie up between hair growth and
Mason / East's performances on the PL. Probert and Jones at Turf
Moor on Saturday, two who are clearly not troubled by lack of
       growth on top ;D

Yes I’d have to agree with the previous comments. I thought
Jones absolutely looked the part throughout. If that was an
audition for a Premier League Trial game then he surely deserves
it? Looked calm and in control even when tempers flared. And
       never missed a thing.
He’s certainly done more of the “big” derbies than anyone else
this season in SG2, and I can see why!

       Unsurprisingly excellent.
I think he has overtaken Madley in the race for SG1, although
clearly both are significantly better than some of the present
       incumbents.

I think Madley, Jones are almost certainly going to get
promoted. I wonder if a Bankes might get promoted, particurlarly
       with VAR next season.

Agreed. I would hope that both are on the Premier League next
       season.
A lot is said about Mike Riley's poor succession planning but,
if that were to happen, then in fairness to him in the space of
twelve months he'd have replaced one Jones and Madley with a
       better Jones and Madley!
