He'll probably have to get Carlisle in as well, then, as I don't
think he's been there.

I believe Robert Madley went off injured in the Peterborough vs
Bolton match. I wonder if he will recover to regain his place
on the PL list as he seems to be injury prone since his return

Milton Keynes Dons FC (First Team) v Sutton United FC (First

Referee: Parsons, Thomas
Assistant Referee: Simpson, Joe
Assistant Referee: Crowhurst, Leigh
Fourth Official: Hallam, Farai
I was prevailed upon by by son's ex to take younger grandson to
this as it was kids for a quid but we got plenty of goals to
watch. The officiating team were in black and Mr Parsons seemed
happy to let the game flow and to keep his cards in his pocket
allowing a couple of challenges in the first half to go
unpunished where other referees might have shown yellow. I did
wonder if he was in holiday mood, being the last match of the
season. MK were two up at half time, the deficit being reduced
to one shortly after the interval. Yellow was produced for the
first time on 55 minutes, the Sutton No. 15 removing an
attackers standing foot as he was preparing to shoot from just
outside the box. There was a flurry of activity around the hour
mark with MK restoring their goal lead, promptly reduced again
to one again in Sutton's next attack. Almost immediately, MK
thought they had scored again only to discover the assistant's
flag correctly raised for offside. At this point, something
happened which I, and I don't think Mr Parsons saw. He seemed to
be alerted via coms before summoning the MK 5 and Sutton 42 to
receive yellow cards. Further goals were exchanged and on 83
minutes Sutton thought they had equalised only to have their joy
cut short for an incident in a crowded penalty area. There
didn't seem to be much argument although I couldn't see what had
caused the goal to be disallowed. From the time Sutton reduced
the deficit to 4-3, there was distinct time wasting by the MK
goalkeeper with no sanction which made what happened in the 6th
minute of stoppage time strange. Sutton had equalised in the
first of the 6 additional minutes and both sides were pushing
for a winner. The MK 9 made a lung bursting effort but just
failed to get to the ball before it went out of play and kicked
the ball away in frustration. He correctly received a yellow
card but it felt out of keeping with what had gone on before.
All in all though, good end of season entertainment and a decent
showing from the officials in what was not a particularly
challenging match for them.

Similar story to the above for Lewis Smith and team yesterday in
front of the cameras for Colchester vs Crewe. Not a particularly
eventful game for him to manage, but kept things ticking along
as needed with a few clear cautions. I was worried about his
inexperience with such a crucial match for both sides, but
credit to him, he looked fully confident and capable in the
middle. He seemed to take quite a hands off approach, not being
too firm with addressing timewasting or positions of the throw
in takers for example, but that style was fine for this
particular game.
Any result in the end didn’t matter for either team and whilst I
thought Colchester deserved to come away with the win, maybe
that late Crewe equaliser will be a bit of a boost for the
playoffs. Best of luck to our Alex supporters over the next few
weeks and happy to see my U’s back for another season in the
fourth tier!

I was in that away end and my god, I was checking my phone every
30 seconds to see the Barrow score. If they scored again and we
didn’t, we would’ve been out of the play offs! So it really was
a sigh of relief when we scored and I can even see myself on TV
😂
Onto the game - Lewis was excellent imo. As you said, looked
confident and in control. He got every KMI correct albeit there
wasn’t many!
Congratulations to Colchester on staying up. As I said to my
parents, Colchester are a club that I never hear trouble from
and are a family club with a good youth academy (I believe) like
us so for you to go down would’ve been very unfair.
