Maybe they got the decisions at Wembley and Craven Cottage mixed
up at Stockley Park? Coventry were onside and Diego Jota for
Liverpool offside? I do feel that Coventry were well and truly
robbed one way or the other and thing like this just play into
the hands of all the conspiracy theorists. Do these decisions
ever (consistently) go the way of the smaller clubs?

I'm assuming Guardiola will want the cup final moved to
Manchester so his pampered players don't have to suffer another
trip to London. Could the FA also check with him if 6 days will
be enough time after their final league game to prepare.[emoji1]

bias on threads that are actually about City without gratuitous

Unfortunately, I agree with whoever expresses the highest level
of apathy for another all-Manchester final, which I would hazard
a guess would also be the least favourable option amongst all
neutrals/non-fans of either club, I doubt I will watch it
either. Last night's semi was the sort of match I would like to
watch, until Coventry were robbed/shot themselves in the foot
and the dawning/yawning of another all Manchester final, as if
the FA had arranged it especially, a bit like the Boat Race,
where Oxford and Cambridge always make the final, or Eurovision
where the UK always make the final but never win (as we just pay
for it).

While all the focus has been on the disallowed goal for offside
and understandable sympathy for Coventry, it's worth mentioning
Dermot thought it wasn't a penalty for the handball given
against Bissaka, while the 2 pundits considered it very harsh.
It will be interesting to learn if Howard Webb considers all 3
decisions - the 2 non-penalties against Young and Grealish, and
this one given, to be correct, or at least supportable. Or
maybe, to use the now familiar phrase, "what football expects"!

I suspect Ref Fan that they all fall under the category
"subjective" and therefore VAR cannot intervene. What we do need
to do is standardise how we judge handball in a consistent way
that is understood by all stakeholders and in particular fans.
Regarding Grealish, I recall many years trying to pull my hand
out of the way of a cross and the ball just followed my hand!
Honestly. Moving your hand towards the ball is not always a
deliberate act of trying to stop the ball - it is trying to get
your hands out of the way!
Agree with Dermot this time so the offside call late in extra
time "offset" the good luck with the penalty claim! (I know it
doesn't work like that of course)

I understand the nature of a decision being "subjective" renders
it difficult for VAR to intervene. But that doesn't mean the
referee's decision can't be debated. Such decisions can vary
from being deemed 50-50 to them being the better decision or not
the better decision. In this instance, I felt the better
decision would be no penalty. Compared to the Young / Grealish
incidents, I now think the former was 60/40 no penalty but the
Grealish one to favour a penalty.

The blue line definitely does go over the foot (and this has
been picked up by one newspaper now). Dale Johnson is saying
"The graphic was called into question due to the position of the
line to defender's boot, though it's slightly misleading as the
foot was in the air meaning there's also a vertical line down to
the ground, making the blue line appear thicker" which seems to
go against the image as Bissaka's foot seems to be clearly on
the ground.

How can you say they were robbed when they got a goal by the
most flukeyist deflection and a penalty for handball where all
the pundits and referees I’ve spoken to, said it was harsh?
Coventry got more than the rub of the green. As much as I hate
VAR offside is offside and this was

I don't know what the fuss is over. Lee Dixon on one feed and
Matthew Upson on another feed, as well as myself, all said once
the first replay was shown that it he was off. Offside is
offside sadly, even though one of the greatest fa cup stories
was ruined.

I called it straight away, it looked very clearly offside real
time. Was very surprised when they showed the lines that it was
so close.

Lee Dixon, he of the famous back four in red shirts that always
simultaneously had their arms raised every time a team attacked
them.
