I suppose he’s the contradiction that officials, or at least
former officials, can be bought off if the (Saudi/Greek) price
is right.

Is it properly documented somewhere that Attwell is a Luton fan.
I had never heard it before

Ignoring the fact that he should distance himself from Forest's
allegation of cheating, Clattenburg is right to identify 3
penalty claims. MOD and BBC Sport website analyses the three
incidents and having looked at them I feel it is right to say
two are subjective and VAR was probably right not to intervene.
In the handball incident, the on field team saw what happened
and VAR could not add anything to suggest Taylor missed
something or was not aware of what was going on. In fact and
notwithstanding my view that the handball rule is being
interpreted inconsistently, I cannot see how VAR can review a
handball decision unless a player is offside or the ball did not
hit the hand/arm. The first incident is one where you question
whether the attacker looked for contact and dived. Certainly
there was contact but Taylor saw that. So again VAR right to
keep out, it could add nothing to what Taylor had already seen
and based his decision on. Clattenburg should have respected and
understood that VAR was right not to intervene on what were
subjective decisions. Yes, you want those 50:50 calls to go your
way but Clattenburg is wrong about VAR in these two instances.
Where he is right and where VAR should have intervened was the
last claim where Taylor appears to indicate that the defender
got the ball. He did not and that was imho sufficient evidence
for VAR to intervene. So Forest can only point the finger at VAR
for one incident, not three.
Even next day, I cannot believe Forest issued their Tweet. The
owners are an embarrassment to the name of club, its traditions
and most of its supporters. I hope an example is made of them so
a shot is aimed across all clubs who feel they can pressurise
officials and question their integrity and competence.

Yes, it has been widely reported in the past. Check out his
appointments as well - none ever involve Luton.
Then again, Kevin Friend occasionally refereed Bristol City, so
it's not a hard-written rule.

I agree with everything in this post with exception of the final
word , referees cannot be untouchable or unaccountable and that
means competence, what cannot and must not be questioned is
honesty and integrity.

Why would someone 'dislike' this post? It's a simple question
not an opinion that one might agree/disagree with.
Not sure about Attwell, but it seems to be common knowledge is
that Stroud is a Luton fan, I mean he's been around for so long
everyone must know by now, he must have been alive for ten times
as long as TTFL, as TTFL likes to infer!

My take on this.
This is rate the ref so putting aside Forest's extraordinary
outburst, I would say that Taylor missed at least one clear
penalty and therefore Attwell was very poor in not referring him
to the monitor for an OFR. Taylor has set an extremely low bar
in what constitutes a penalty this season, so by his standards,
all three should have been awarded and none of them could really
be adjudged to be clear and obvious errors and thus wouldn't
have been overturned. You can understand Forest's annoyance.

I too can understand Forest's annoyance and their frustration.
We have all been there but social media makes it so easy to
sound off on the keyboard before the brain has been fully
engaged. I would imagine there will be a mix of emotions at
PGMOL today and anger may well be one of them. I wonder which
officials are pencilled in for Forest's next game and indeed
whether the officials nominated for the game may be changed? I
cannot see how this will help Forest.
As an aside, is what Forest did tant amount to workplace
bullying?
P.S. Confirmed today that Forest did not ask before the game for
Atwell to be removed from his duties as VAR.

I see from the appointments page this was originally Chris
Kavanagh's match and Taylor only got it a few days beforehand.Do
we know why?
Amazed at the Attwell Luton link- those years ago when he
'awarded' the phatom goal he was on the wrong end of a horrible
media witch hunt and cannot believe if it was true it wasn't
mentioned then, as the goal was against Watford- Luton's big
rivals

At that time Luton were in League Two and on their way to the
Blue Square League. Nothing that happened in that Watford game
could have affected Luton in the slightest so no jeopardy in
that one.
