Daniele Orsato : Man City vs Real Madrid

A mixed bag of sorts by Orsato tonight on two or three occasions
he and his AR’s missed deflections for GK or CK basic stuff
really
He let the game flow for the vast majority of it then seemed to
give FK’s for everything and also proceeded on a few occasions
to frustrate players and fans he gave FK one way then changed
his mind and awarded it the other way I didn’t think he wa fully
focused / his usual self and I got this impression aswell when
the TNT cameras were on him when captains gathered at the coin
toss prior to kick off

Think the giving free kicks one way then the other was a classic
of forgetting momentarily which way teams were kicking. We used
to have a local referee who often screamed blue ball and pointed
the wrong way just after half time, something i am sure we have
all been guilty of.

Although he didn't have a shocker, it's the first time I've seen
Orsato in a big game like that where I thought he was struggling
to keep pace. The forgetting which way the teams were attacking
a couple of times, getting in the way of play once or twice etc.
I do wonder if that will be factored in to future appointments
or if he'll decide to step back himself from UEFA comps. We'll
see.

On the free kick that was given one way incorrectly was this the
incident with doku and carvajal in the second half where a free
kick was given for an elbow. I though he’d given a free kick to
city then after realising carvajal was already on a yellow card
he switched his decision to avoid the second yellow. Could be a
theory that Matt le tissier would be proud of but just a
thought.

Mr Orsato’s game management was not a patch on Real Madrid’s.
The incident James mentioned above looked like a foul on Doku to
me. I don’t know inEuropean fixtures it’s the referee or 4th
official who keeps note of the added time, but between Carvajal
taking his time getting off the pitch and the sub having to
remove his necklace over two minutes had elapsed, so only adding
on one was poor timekeeping from the responsible official.
Particularly as there were other stoppages in that half.
