Really difficult one here in the dying embers. For me it’s not
clear and obvious to see the foul doesn’t continue into the box,
probably should have stuck with the on-field decision there.
Bournemouth will be absolutely fuming. (Edited , the rest not
acceptable)

Hopefully it will be another 2 years or preferably more before
he referees us again. That will be my only comment.

Never been convinced by Harrington no where near good enough for
the premier league imo and barely for sg2 , I think he’s a run
of the mill national list referee . Always has a controversial
decision in him and I think he enjoys the limelight a bit too
much . Today was a pretty standard performance from him I will
leave it to others if they think that standard is good enough.

I only saw two decisions from this game - the Man United
handball penalty which I felt was incorrectly awarded,
particularly by EPL standards, from the angles I saw I was
surprised VAR didn't intervene.
The Bournemouth penalty at the end - probably correct for VAR
to change to a FK. I felt the foul point he selected was correct
and was outside the area.
I see a number of esteemed posters who also happen to support
Bournemouth seem most unhappy with Mr. Harrington's general
performance, I hope they will make more detailed posts on where
they felt he had a poor game as we always benefit from their
views.

Very unfair opinion on his general performances imo. He was the
best referee before he got injured last year and was getting
consistent TV games/ good games from September to November. He's
also been very good since he's returned this season, however his
last 2 have clearly left a lot to be desired. However the above
comments on his general showings are not warranted.

Not the right time for me to comment, I need to go away, calm
down and remove the rose tints. I very rarely criticise a
referee, as everyone knows.
A positive - he wore blue!

Better than Messrs Oliver or Taylor? A surprising claim to make.
I've only seen highights of this game, so can't assess Mr
Harrington's overall performance, but not convinced on either
penalty call, though the second correctly overturned.

The foul initial contact yes, but for me it continues into the
line and area. Therefore, inconclusive evidence to disprove the
on field decision. Penalty should have stood.

Thought that Manchester United got the rub of green on most of
the decisions during this game.
With regard to the var intervention towards the very end of the
game, i am trying to fathom out whether the correct decision was
reached by the var and i need advice from someone with var
protocol knowledge and law.
If Harrington feeds back to the var that he blew and gave the
penalty kick for the initial challenge which he thought was
inside the area is the ball dead at the point the initial
challenge is made? If so then the var can only intervene to say
that a free kick should be awarded as the foul was committed
outside the penalty area. Here clear and obvious wouldnt come
into play as the offence is outside the area and it is a line
call for the contact. If the camera angles arent clear enough
then the onfield decision remains?
If the ball isnt dead at that stage then var could advise the
referee to visit the monitor if the var feels the offence
continues into the area?
I guess we will not know what Harrington fed back to the var
unless it is chosen by Howard Webb on his regular programme with
Michael Owen.
With the penalty kick given to Manchester United, all i can say
is i have seen similar not given and thus it is subjective.
Bournemouth correctly not given a penalty kick where Christie
went down in the penalty area however i feel he was wrongly
yellow carded for simulation.
With regard to Harrington i saw him quite a lot when he was sg2
and along with Coote was very surprised when he was promoted to
sg1, having said that my surprise doesnt mean that neither are
good enough for sg1
