Two clear YCs missed there, one for Maddison and one for Burn
but at least he was consistent, else it would have been even
       worse.

Interesting start for Robinson - 1 a piece on missed cautions.
Maddison with a clear and deliberate body check on Gordon, now
Burn with a clear pull back. Both stopping a promising attack
for my money - many a ref lower down the pyramid being observed
would be pulled up for 2 missed cautions!
Wonder if we’ll see a card today or has he set his standard?

Van de Ven now sees yellow for much less innocuous challenge
although Robinson did signal this was for PI

Spurs denied a penalty with Burn's high foot? I'd say that IS a
       clear and obvious error.

I did worry when I posted earlier in the week about the pressure
of St James Park being too much for a referee like Robinson. He
has been almost as appalling as the Tottenham defence here.
3 of their 4 yellows are not yellows in any game. 2 of them
aren’t even fouls (Romero, Bissouma with clean tackles), but
Robinson has fallen for the fake noises of the Newcastle
attackers and pressure from the crowd.
He won’t be the first nor the last!
Bentancur is caught in the Newcastle box for sure, but Spurs
wouldn’t have deserved it for such a woeful away performance yet
again. Think Attwell and Robinson feel the same!

Thought Robinson had a good game, managed it well, didnt resort
to cards early on and when he did card it was for persistent
       misconduct.
He certainly didnt get swayed by the crowd as you describe,
perhaps the spurs players did though.
Robinson was no where near appalling as you state, think your
perceptions are from the view as a fan and certainly not as a
       referee

3 of the 4 yellow were barely fouls, honestly I couldn’t believe
what I was seeing. Did you think they were even fouls (Van de
Ven, Bissouma and Romero)? A referee who kind of knew there
wasn’t much doing, but was easily swayed by both crowd and home
       players.

Not sure he was overly influenced by the crowd in somehow
letting Maddison stay on the pitch. Obvious missed yellow in the
first half and the one he was eventually booked for was
borderline red in its own right. That said as a Newcastle fan,
given the outcome I’d rather beat Spurs with 11 men, means
there’s no excuse for them to throw at it. I suspect the lack
of booking for Burn in the first half was as a result of his
lack of booking for Maddison moments earlier. Felt like a case
of evening things up having maybe realised he’d missed one.
Maddison could actually have had another booking for dissent for
his ridiculous reaction to Burn’s non-yellow, particularly
ridiculous from him given what he’d just got away with moments
       earlier.

Robinson clearly says "its the same as that one" pointing in the
vague direction of where the Maddison foul was. Consistent on
the day, completely inconsistent with any other match or
referee. Should have been 2 yellows - cheap defending by both
players, no attempt to play the ball
