I’m surprised some of the grounds aren’t completely submerged
       after the deluge we’ve had.
Absolutely ridiculous that county championship matches are
played so late in September… this is the bread and butter of
       cricket.

Totally agree TTFL. I am of an age when I recall the season
ending on the 2nd Saturday in a September with the
Gillette/NatWest a final at Lords, with the final Test at the
Oval being completed a couple of weeks before and the County
Championship neatly wrapped up. There was a certain familiarity
and neatness to the whole thing. Nowadays with all the various
one day slogging and extra one day matches with visiting teams
the County Championship is getting pushed further and further
back with the consequent poorer weather, earlier evenings etc.

Mr Mallender needs to be tucked up with his hot cocoa and warm
slippers when we get this ghastly weather heading towards winter
, and not freezing cold standing in the middle! 😜

Four games washed out on day 1 without a ball bowled. Weather
looks dreadful for the next few days.

Playing county cricket at this time of year weather can have
       more of an influence
on promotion and relegation places. It wont be long before the
season starts in October and ends in March !!

All because we lose 1 month for thr hundred that is so dull even
the tv audiences have dropped off. Disgraceful to throw away
history and culture for a bag of money

Ultimately the weather is in all likelihood going to resolve the
promotion/relegation issues, which is a completely unacceptable
method of resolving the final standings.
I would add, however, that some poor pitches in the past
prepared by teams needing a result have also had an effect, to
such a point that they were fined and/or docked points for sub
       standard wickets.
Furthermore, if I were those relegated counties, I’d be going
after the main organisers, money makers and the broadcasters
whom run the hundred dross, whose competition, it could be
argued, has had a factor in their battle to beat the drop due to
       the diabolical schedule.
