Chris Watts and Sue Redfern abandoned the match at
Gloucestershire for a dangerous pitch. Not an easy decision to
       make.

And that’s definitely a points deduction heading towards
Gloucestershire for a dreadful wicket. I hope the paying
       customers are reimbursed.
Somerset were chief offenders in the past for producing sub
       standard wickets.
Taunton resembled a beach on some matchdays.

Just to add two batsmen for hospital treatment for broken
       fingers….
Northants were in the running for promotion too….

Featuring an over of Durham coach Alan Walker filling in at
square leg for Michael Gough while he needed to leave the field
temporarily! You wouldn’t get team staff substituting for
       officials in many other sports!

If a man has to "go", then he has to "go".
Not many sports would appoint two umpires who played for the
competing sides either. But then cricket always has been
       different (in a good way).
At least the "Durham" stand in was covering for the "Durham"
umpire. Would the Lancashire coach have had to fill the breach
if it had been Bumble Junior who needed a short break?

Absolutely agree with the middle paragraph, always nice to enjoy
a sport without pointing fingers at allegiances. Someone linked
another example on twitter of Alec Stewart covering for an
umpire for at least part of a session and then a Northants coach
took up the start of the second session before another umpire
arrived, so i’m not sure there’s any strict rules on who can
cover if both teams agree I’d think.
I wonder how taxing that is on the other umpire having to be
fully concentrated behind the stumps without alternate overs at
square leg. Not saying you can snooze at square leg but not
quite as much to think about.
